It’s been a minute since we’ve had a proper guest on our weekly radio show (did you know we still have a radio show) – The Dumb Records Radio Show on every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA. This week we are pleased to announce our special guest is Bryan Tippy – coordinator behind the Legacy Of Giving Music Festival which is happening next weekend on June 7th and 8th. There is a lot going on around the festival including many bands and event an art show after show in our new show space! We will be talking about all of that with Bryan, playing plenty of The Skatalites, and also bands that will be playing L.O.G. Fest next weekend. Plus you can expect plenty of more local music and bands coming to town.
The Dumb Records Radio Show airs today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00pm on 88.3 WQNA FM. You can listen live then or at the same time at wqnaradio.org.
What a great weekend this is turning out to be! The official Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series had their kickoff last night which seemed like it was a great success, and we also have a pretty packed show next door to us. Tonight is the first ever hip hop show at the new “Bread Jammers” right next door to Dumb Records. Tonight at the top of the bill is Deezy Da Paperboy, very hard working rapper from these parts who is constantly putting out new music. Check out some of his stuff streaming on the player below. We’ve also got Cornbread – who’s been around doing his thing for a long time too – even since the early Bread Stretchers days. Then we got a few newer up and coming artists, including “DZY“. Also Otto San – who performed at Radon Lounge back in March. Then we’ve got “Bummygod” – younger artist who had performed at Black Sheep at one of our final shows there. And we’ve got Yung Pey opening things up!
This all starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretchers shows page for a look at what is coming up in coming months.
Come onnnnn down to Just Breads™ tonight (right next to us) because we’ve got a good one cookin’ up. Apparently this is the last ever ever show for Jacksonville’s last chosen Black Sheep era punks to lead us all into the future – No Cash Value. The out of town act on this bill is a new group from Champaign/Urbana called “Carly Beth” which features members of Nectar, La Louve, and other C-U area bands. Also on this show is new-ish Springfield group Blushe. Opening things up looks like we have solo performances by both Jessica Knight and Dexter Anodyne.
All of this starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Just Breads Stretchers shows page for a nice look at what is coming up there.
Well this one sure snuck up on us! Believe it or not, we actually have a show going on at Bread Stretchers tonight! We welcome the return of Stick People from Taylorville, (who did play there last on Record Store Day last month)! Tonight Stick People are bringing in a big touring act and that is Hollywood Horses from Birmingham, Alabama! Stream one of their songs on the player below. We also have a couple more local acts taking the Bread Stretcher stage for the first time. This includes hard rock grunge group Master Bastard. And opening things up is the alternative / indie-rock group The Little Death.
That’s the show! This starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretchers shows page for a look at what else we’ve got coming up these next few months.
Wow, it’s been a minute since we’ve gotten to tell you all about any local bands or musicians from here in Springfield that are getting out into the world and touring! Summer is coming up so it makes sense that there are going to be some lined up here soon. Here’s an exciting one – local musician Kate Laine is getting out there on a first time later on in June! It looks like a week long run that is actually ending right here at Bread Stretchers! Kate will be touring with another solo musician Jordan Collins all the way from Spokane, Washington! Go ahead and stream some of Jordan’s music on the player below. Also check out the tour dates below:
6/12 – St. Louis, MO @ Foam (w Sister Wizard, display-only)

Kate was also announced as one of the artists performing as part of the Levitt AMP Sprignfield Music Series downtown along with Liz Cooper for Thursday, July 18th. We’ll have more of an official announcement up for the June 19th show at Bread Stretchers likely tomorrow.
Here we are with some brand new local music to get you through the week. Springfield recording project “MLR” has recently released a brand new track called “Faces” which you can find streaming below. You can head over to the MLR bandcamp page to download the mp3 at your own price and find more music released over the years.
MLR is the project of Mark Lee Reynolds, also of various other groups and projects of the past such as Night/Hex and others.
We have one whopper of a show going on tonight – and “BXS” stands for “Bread X Slammers” by the way, DON’T you EVER go showing up to the old Black Sheep. (And don’t ask us what’s going on with the building either, we don’t know). Tonight we have six bands on one show- three of them being a part of some big touring package. That includes “Heaven’s Die” at the top of the list, an incredibly crushing group from Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Stream some of their music on the player below if you dare. Heaven’s Die will be on tour with Shame Spiral also from Virginia playing some powerful deathcore/metal. The third touring act on the bill is “Thirty Nights of Violence” also from Virginia. And as for the locals… we have the first time Capitol Offense from Decatur will be making an appearance at Bread Stretchers. We also have Brute Force from the St. Louis area who performed last in Springfield at one of the final Black Sheep shows.
All of this happens tonight starting at 7:00 pm right on the nose and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretchers shows page for a look at what else is coming up there in the near future.
