Happy rainy day weekend everyone! Tonight we have a whopper of a show going on at “Bread Slammers.” It is a heavy one! You’ve been warned! Tonight is going to be the tape release show for Springfield hardcore group Final Order, who we had featured on our site yesterday with their new 9-track release, Tainted Tradition. There are two touring acts tonight. One is “While God Sleeps” playing some metalcore from the heart of Minnesota. You can stream their music on the player below. Also on this show from the other end of up north is Hushed from Detroit, Michigan. Then we have familiar group to Springfield “Time & Pressure” from St. Louis – playing at Bread Stretchers for the first time. Opening things up is… Foam Fangers! Also playing for the first time at the new spot. Nice.
This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is going on coming up at Breads R Us in the near future.
What a great weekend this is turning out to be! The official Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series had their kickoff last night which seemed like it was a great success, and we also have a pretty packed show next door to us. Tonight is the first ever hip hop show at the new “Bread Jammers” right next door to Dumb Records. Tonight at the top of the bill is Deezy Da Paperboy, very hard working rapper from these parts who is constantly putting out new music. Check out some of his stuff streaming on the player below. We’ve also got Cornbread – who’s been around doing his thing for a long time too – even since the early Bread Stretchers days. Then we got a few newer up and coming artists, including “DZY“. Also Otto San – who performed at Radon Lounge back in March. Then we’ve got “Bummygod” – younger artist who had performed at Black Sheep at one of our final shows there. And we’ve got Yung Pey opening things up!
This all starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretchers shows page for a look at what is coming up in coming months.
Come onnnnn down to Just Breads™ tonight (right next to us) because we’ve got a good one cookin’ up. Apparently this is the last ever ever show for Jacksonville’s last chosen Black Sheep era punks to lead us all into the future – No Cash Value. The out of town act on this bill is a new group from Champaign/Urbana called “Carly Beth” which features members of Nectar, La Louve, and other C-U area bands. Also on this show is new-ish Springfield group Blushe. Opening things up looks like we have solo performances by both Jessica Knight and Dexter Anodyne.
All of this starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Just Breads Stretchers shows page for a nice look at what is coming up there.
Well this one sure snuck up on us! Believe it or not, we actually have a show going on at Bread Stretchers tonight! We welcome the return of Stick People from Taylorville, (who did play there last on Record Store Day last month)! Tonight Stick People are bringing in a big touring act and that is Hollywood Horses from Birmingham, Alabama! Stream one of their songs on the player below. We also have a couple more local acts taking the Bread Stretcher stage for the first time. This includes hard rock grunge group Master Bastard. And opening things up is the alternative / indie-rock group The Little Death.
That’s the show! This starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretchers shows page for a look at what else we’ve got coming up these next few months.
Tonight! We have a nice and solid three band show going on at your local downtown Bread Twisters right new to Dumb Records. We have the return of Epsom – the weirdo rock group featuring a number of Springfield scene veterans that have been rocking it for a good number of years. They are back for the first time this year with a brand new lineup. Starter Jackets is another local group that we don’t see too often of. They say they are playing their only local gig of the year for this one?? We don’t know if we believe that, but either way let’s not miss out on this rare Starter Jackets show. The first act on the bill is full band Kenyon DeShasier, the local pop / indie song writing machine.
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Stretchers shows page on our site to see everything coming up at the space! Good luck!
Happy Mother’s Day everyone! You know what, tonight there is a show at Bread Slippers and we are just gonna go ahead and say that moms get in for free tonight, why not. Tonight we have touring band “Big Loser” from Austin, Texas – which formerly was known as the group “Free Kittens And Bread” and had played at Black Sheep twice in the past under that name. We welcome this act under the new name under our new venue into the future. Stream some of their music below. This show did have a last minute cancellation and that was Loverboard, whoops! The Telephone Junkies are still on board and playing their first show at the new Bread Slippers! Opening things up is Dexter!
The show tonight starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this show right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Slippers shows page on our site for a list of what else is coming up in the near future.
Hey all it’s Friday, it’s the weekend and there is plenty going on. We don’t have any shows lined up at Bread Stretchers this weekend, but there are still things to do in this city! Here’s a quick post that’s a rundown on some things going on.
Remember the Tiny Desk mini-concert that we told you about a couple of days ago? Well guess what, that is happening tonight at Anvil & Forge Brewery downtown at 7:00 pm. We have been told this is still all ages however sounds like if you are under 21 you require some sort of parent or guardian. :-/. For this event they have a performance by Jeff Williams of NIL8 lined up, also Springfield folk/Americana act The Deep Hollow will be performing. Also Kate Laine (Kate the Band(?)), and Looming (as a two piece?), Dexter Anodyne, and more? Wow!
By the way, we have not at all mentioned this but we are going to be apart of some panel discussion today at the Midwest Music Expo in Decatur at Millikin University. That’s kicking off in just an hour or two so it’s a little late notice for us to be telling you about it for any of you readers out there in Springfield. We’ll be on a panel of discussion topics with other representatives from different areas of the music industry to talk about things ranging from show and concert booking to social media and guerrilla marketing. We aren’t entirely sure what to expect but are up for whatever today brings!
Because of being gone in Decatur, our radio show on 88.3 WQNA will not be airing today on its usual 4:00 to 6:00 pm Friday time. Our store however will still be open its normal time today until 8:00 pm.
