This is a post to let you all know that we seem to finally have found a good system for getting our old (more recent for now) recorded radio shows for The Dumb Records Radio Show up streaming online for those of you unable to listen from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Fridays when we are live. Right now we have been adding those episodes to a newly created Mix Cloud page! Go check that out right here. Also can we even embed those episodes below??? Let’s try it…

Holy cow did that work?? That’s awesome! Also sorry but this past Friday’s episode we did not start recording until 30 minutes in to the program. The Dumb Records Radio Show is on every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM and also online at wqnaradio.org. Maybe we will update our radio show page to also include the embedded players for past episodes. We’ll see. For this Friday we have a very special guest coming in and that is Len Trumper of Whatever Productions, who was involved in bringing bigger rock acts to Springfield in the 1970’s and early 80’s such as Van Halen, The Cars, Black Sabbath, and many more.

CityFME: “Lost N The Muzik 3”

65304006_3803831886514882_926187900423372800_n.jpg

Gotta keep that new local hip hop rolling in! Today we bring you a stream of a new release by local hip hop project “CityFME.” CityFME has a brand new album that came out late last month called Lost N The Muzik 3. It’s 13 tracks and you can find it streaming below. It was also reviewed on USA Blog Network’s Review:

Consistency is the key to success. CityFME embodies that statement with his latest release Lost N the Muzik. 3″ Bringing his distinctly Midwestern vibe to his new project, City continues to show his growth as an artist and songwriter on the third installment of his popular mixtape series. Not bogged down with too many features or cluttered with a lot of filler, “Lost N the Muzik 3” gives the listeners a nice experience. Standout tracks like “Moments” featuring Papa Luke and “So Juicy” showcase City’s ever evolving pen.

The album also has a write-up by Ken No is this month’s issue of Activator Magazine! And of course, we are also adding it to our ultimate Springfield album archive, bringing us to a total of 452 releases. Nice.

New Band Pages: Local Drags

Screen Shot 2019-07-15 at 9.08.10 AM

This week we bring you a brand new band page for the new-ish power pop project that has only played like two shows or something but has a killer record out, Local Drags. Check out that new page to find out more about the band and stream their music right here. Local Drags dropped their Shit’s Lookin’ Up on It’s Alive Records and Stardumb Records last month and yes, we do have copies on vinyl in our record store. They don’t have any other shows lined up as far as we know right now. Sorry.

Check out any of our 44 current band pages on our website right here. Yes, we do know that some of these bands are no longer active, but don’t you worry, we are working on getting this section of our website up to date. It’s an adventure! Do you perform in a local band or are a solo musician here in Springfield that does not have a band page set up with us? We would love to hear from you. Email us at dumbrecs@gmail.com and we will work with you to get something set up.

July 31st at Bread Sheep: Crafter, Final Order, Soul Craft, Black Box

Good morning and welcome to another brand new week! Hopefully we are on top of things with website posts and bringing you some top of the line content this week! Today we have a show to tell you about happening on Wednesday, July 31st at our spot. Drew says this is a last minute show, but we don’t think it’s that last minute. It’s still over two weeks away, you have plenty of time to plan what you are going to wear to this very solid hardcore show. For this show we have the band “Crafter” coming all the way from Massachusetts. Stream their music on the player below. Final Order from right here in Springfield will also be playing this show. ALSO on this show is a band called Soul Craft from St. Louis. Soul Craft features members of old Champaign/Urbana hardcore band Commodity that were around in the late 2000’s / early 2010’s that none of you probably remember. Opening things up is the new Springfield hardcore band everyone has been talking about, “Black Box.”

This one starts at 7:00 pm and only costs $5. You just can’t beat that. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Bread Sheep shows page to see what else is coming up at our spot this summer right here.

Videos: Jocko at Bread Sheep 7-6-19

Let’s get a little bit back on track with videos in the new show spot next door to us. Today we are bringing you a video of the Omaha Nebraska hardcore band Jocko performing here a little over a week ago on July 6th. The video is of the band performing their song “Jungle of Stone” and you can check it out on the player below.

Also head over to our vids/pics page for a list of local and touring band videos (still mostly at Black Sheep) over the years. Or check out our youtube channel.

Vincent Sebastian: “Interference”

a1326921504_10.jpg

Happy Sunday! We are taking things a little slow today over here at the office since we just got done with three nights with three great shows back-to-back-to-back at Dumb headquarters, so excuse us coming in late with some website posts today. A week or so ago Springfield/Chicago musician Vincent Sebastian released a debut full length album, Interference, around the same time he performed at the show at our space with Jocko and others. We are finally getting that album here streaming on our site today. If you haven’t listened yet, you can stream it on the player below – it’s great. You can also head over to Vincent Sebastian’s bandcamp page to purchase the download of the album.

Vincent doesn’t have any other shows lined up at our space that we know of as of right now. Keep your eyes and ears out for them in the future. Yes you can check this one out on our Springfield album archive page as well. We are at 451 released listed on that page.

Tonight at Bread Sheep: Tim Buchanan, The Dixie Narcos, Father Talljasper, Adam Maletich

timbuchananflier_web

Here we are at the end of our run of three shows back-to-back-to-back at Bread Sheep this weekend with this good psychedelic/folk show happening tonight. It features touring artist Tim Buchanan – who was actually a member of Oklahoma hardcore band American Hate who had played Black Sheep a few times. Tim’s solo material is nothing like American Hate, and you can stream it on the player below. Also on this show is psychedelic rock group “The Dixie Narcos” from Jacksonville, that rarely ever play live. What a treat to have them on. Then also there is a newer group from some town we know nothing about called Canton, Illinois. The band is “Father Talljasper” and they also play some indie rock stuff. Opening things up is local solo acoustic artist Adam Maletich.

Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Admission is $6.00 this time around and things kick off at 7:00 pm. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Bread Sheep.

Today on The Dumb Records Radio Show: Lori Kiel (White Oaks Mall)

todayonourprogram.jpg

It’s another Friday and we are keeping the ball rolling with some solid guests lined up on our radio program! Last week we had a great time chatting with Tim Smith about the upcoming Abe Fest going on next weekend downtown. We actually got a “Mix Cloud” page up and rolling so that we can start posting old recorded episodes! Check that out right here. This week, after being curious about what’s going on with a concert series in the White Oaks Mall food court – we reached out to the mall directly about someone coming in to talk to us on their behalf. So today as our guest we have Marketing and Business Development Director Lori Kiel coming in to talk with us! Wow! Lori will be talking with us about the Friday evening concert series they have going on now through the end of September. Tonight’s series actually includes Dexter Anodyne and Caleb Coppinger, and starts at 6:30pm out at the mall food court.

You can tune in to our radio program at 4:00 pm today and every Friday – from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM. Also stream the show during the same time online at wqnaradio.org.

Tonight at Bread Sheep: Kate The Band, Best Sleep, Sadface Killer, Flunkie

Happy Friday everyone, T.G.I.F.! We are right in the middle of a three day show back-to-back-to-back streak with a very solid indie rock show happening tonight. This show features full band “Kate The Band” – you know it’s good based on these two songs we streamed on our site last month. The touring act on this bill is “Best Sleep” from Fort Wayne, Indiana. You can stream their music on the player embedded below. Then we have the first “Bread Sheep” performance of Peoria and Springfield based emo band Sadface Killer. They are a good band and released their debut full length album Domino Line earlier this year. Opening things up is the local solo project – Flunkie.

This show will start at 7:00 pm regular showtime and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Bread Sheep in the near future.
