Today on The Dumb Records Radio Show: Jim Pemberton

JIM.jpg

Continuing with our streak of great guests on our weekly Friday radio program! It is Friday! And that means until further notice we have our show on the airwaves of 88.3 WQNA FM from 4:00 to 6:00 pm! You better tune in or else! If everything goes as planned, today’s special guest is WQNA station manager Jim Pemberton! Jim’s been behind the scenes of the station for 20+ years from our understanding and we’ve done our show for six and a half of those years without having him on as guest! WQNA as a station is also hitting the big 40 year mark somewhere right around now! So we’ll be chatting with Jim about all of that, as well as the current state of things for the station and what’s next.

Tune in to our program today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM or online at the same time at wqnaradio.org. We’ve been recording past episodes which you can find on our Mix Cloud page!

Today we bring you yet another full length album from a local musician. That is Jeff Cowhick with this full length sophomore album of his called Cauterized. The album is eleven tracks, all instrumental, and is the follow up to last year’s Firebrand, which we have plenty of copies of still in our local section in our store. Jeff says he plans on hopefully getting physical copies of this new album eventually, and is also working on putting together a full band to perform! Stream some of the album on the youtube player below along with some beautiful scenic imagery. Check out the full album on youtube right here, or CD baby right here.

You betcha that we are adding this one to our Springfield album archive page for this year. That brings us to 39 releases that we’ve had featured on our site this year and 465 total.

Hey, here’s an all-local show coming up at our space on Sunday, September 29th! This one is going to be neat! A couple of the acts are hot off the open mic nights and straight onto this real deal show. Okay, so at the top of the bill is Starstuff – a fairly new local rock act that had played Black Sheep at one point towards the end of things. We don’t think they have anything online. There is also “Layers” – the poetry music fused duo and sometimes solo act. Come and eat it up with your ears. Reggie & The Demons is playing… who most of us know as “Niko”, this is the name of his new solo project that performed at our last open mic. Then opening things we have the bass / poetry fusion act Vetrell Yates, also playing his first real deal show at our space.

All of this starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. It’s one month from tomorrow! Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at the near future.

Videos: Rockford at Bread Sheep (8-9-19)

Today we are bringing you a video of Rockford performing at their final final show ever this past month at our space. It was a great time, as you can see. This video is for their last song ever, ever called “Vanity”. Check that out right here on our Youtube page or on the player below.

Check out our vids/pics page for more show videos, mostly from the Black Sheep days.

DZY: “Waiting On” (Music Video)

The music videos for local artists keep on comin’ in hot!! This afternoon we are bringing you one shot in the heart of downtown Springfield – even some of it looks like it was shot right infront of our store! This video is for local rapper DZY and his song “Waiting On”, which was shot and directed by the very talented and always busy Jayy Wills. Check that out on the player below, or also on youtube right here. DZY performed at least one song with DreTheGuy at the most recent hip hop show at our space earlier this month.

Check out more videos shot and produced by Jayy Wills (JWE) right here. Also check out our vids/pics page and scroll down for a list of music videos from local acts over the years.

Here’s a show coming up here really quick!! Like in two weeks even! On Friday, September 13th. “The The Bread Theatre” (Very fancy). We’ve got a nice mix of solo artists on this show! At the top of the bill is Asa Dawson. Who’s that? He used to be in popular indie rock band from Springfield in the 2000’s called The Junior Varsity! Another blast from the past on this show from those of you who may have been around for some early Black Sheep days is The Winning Stretch, which is nowadays the duo of married couple Josh and Laura Kuhl (pronounced like “cool”). Before that is a solo set by Mario Cannamela. Opening things up looks like is Blue Parks!

What a nice, relaxing, indie rock / acoustic show. Starting at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page which we just updated!
