November 17th at Dumb Records: Nightcrawler, Star Stuff, Blushe, Vera Devorah, Ella Gibson

myflierNove17.jpg

On Sunday, November 17th – we got a show! There’s a lot going on for this one, including two touring acts. This includes Nightcrawler from the Chicago area – playing some real smooth emo music, with a new hit record coming out on Rat King Records very soon. Stream that new hit single on the player below. The other touring act on the bill is a solo act called “Vera Devorah” from Lincoln, Nebraska. As far as locals go, we’ve got local rock group Star Stuff on the bill. We’ve also got Blushe. Opening up this show is actually a 13 year old singer songwriter we are really happy to welcome to perform at our space! That is Ella Gibson!

All of that starts at 7:00 pm on that day and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at our space in the coming months.

The State Journal-Register: “Good Heart Tattoos Opens In Downtown Springfield”

73108475_2836509193067096_4403077700219043840_n.jpg

Our new next door neighbor, Good Heart Tattoos, was featured in an article in the local paper, The State Journal-Register yesterday. This was a part of Sunday’s local business notes, and the paper talked with owner Benny DeWitt about the new downtown tattoo shop having a grand opening on Saturday, November 9th. Believe it or not Benny has already opened his doors and started tattooing in a soft-open, Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon until close. Here’s a snippet from the article:

This tradition even extends to the downtown location DeWitt selected, which he hopes conveys a certain image about his business.

“Through the early part of the last century, tattooers that were good wanted to be on Main Street USA,” DeWitt said. “So I feel that Monroe is kind of like Main Street USA and I think that’s a really cool thing to bring downtown.”

DeWitt added that “there’s a lot of creative businesses and a lot of blue collar-style stuff happening” downtown between the mix of breweries, record stores, coffee shops and a hip barbershop, making it an attractive spot for him.

You can find the full article in yesterday’s paper (Sunday), or online right here. In the business notes there is also mention of continuing development on a long-stalled apartment project also down the road from us on Sixth and Monroe Streets. There was also an article yesterday on a “Healthy prep meal service” also heading downtown to Monroe street, out of Custom Cup just down the road from us. Check that article out online right here.

November 2nd at Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s: “Foam Fest”

foamfest.jpg

What’s this, there is something happening at Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s one week from today… on Saturday November 2nd?? This is “Foamfest” being put together by Foam Fangers… which looks to us like a regular four band show happening at Hardee’s! As you can see we got some pizza, chicken, and burritos on the flier, but we are not sure if all of those things are currently on the Hardee’s menu. To see an official up to date Hardee’s menu, go to the Hardee’s website right here. Who is playing Foamfest?? At the top of the bill of course is Foam Fangers. We also have 90’s-sounding alternative / power pop band The Complaint Line rockin’ it. We also have… The Blood-Soaked Boogie Bandits! What a nice Halloween-themed act. Looks like opening things up is Prevention, who just played here last night!

Foamfest starts at 6:30pm according to the flier, and it’s free. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Our weather radar tells us it’s going to be a nice high of 48 degrees and low of 31 on that day with clear skies, we’ll keep an on that weather! Find a list of other shows going on around Springfield on our shows page.

At the top of the bill is the return of Kate Laine! We have not seen Kate in a minute! Stream some of her music on the player below. We also have Petersburg, IL based younger up and coming artist Emily Hough, as was featured on NBC’s “The Voice!” (She’s really really good). Also the return of HECK from Bloomington, Illinois, aka Hannah Songer. Opening things up looks like is Reggie & The Demons, aka our buddy Niko.

Tonight will start at 7:00 pm and admission is just $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page to take a look at everything coming up at our space this fall!

Uh oh, get ready for tonight because it’s going to be a heavy one. We got that big big hardcore band touring package for you. With the band “Mouth For War” at the top of the bill from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Stream their music on the player below. Actually the touring package is just two bands. The other band is Cold Shoulder coming from Toronto, Canada. Then we have three bands familiar to our space, including Capitol Offense from Decatur. And hold up! There has been a change to the lineup since the show was originally announced. Instead of Time And Pressure, there are TWO bands taking their place. Wow. One is Gumm from Tennessee, who did play at our space earlier this year. The other is “Gadget” from Minnesota. They are supposedly doing a split set or something or other. Opening things up is Prevention from right here, home grown in your backyard hardcore.

All of this big mega show starts at 7:00 pm tonight and admission is $10 this time around. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at our space in the near future.

X-E-A: “Interdimensional Catwalk”

a2723520910_10.jpg

Today we bring you a tid-bit of new Springfield music in the form of this short instrumental track by local recording project called “X-E-A”. The song is called “Interdimensional Catwalk” and you can find it streaming on the player below. The piece was inspired by or created for an event at The Pharmacy Gallery downtown that happened this past weekend, and there is a video from the event on the X-E-A facebook page which you can check out right here. Head over to the X-E-A bandcamp page to download the track at your own price.

On Friday the The Pharmacy Gallery & Art Space held a collaborative fashion show featuring local designers, artists, and models. This video consists of clips from the finale, as well as shots from the gallery space.

The music is a piece I wrote, inspired by Timothy Donavan Russell‘s selection of songs for the evening. You can download it for free at: https://x-e-a.bandcamp.com/track/interdimensional-catwalk

Congratulations to everyone involved on a sucessful show!
