Black Sheep Band Lotto

bandlottokevin

Are you all ready for a BIG game changer in Springfield, Illinois ROCK?? Have you always wanted to play in a band but never got the chance? Today we are announcing a big curve-ball in Black Sheep summer events and going-ons that we have never tried before. Today we are introducing the Black Sheep Band Lotto happening this summer. What is band lotto? Okay we will explain it.

Any volunteers will put their name into a hat, or bucket that we will have at Dumb Records. Then, we will draw names out of the bucket in groups of threes, fours, or fives. The drawn groups of people have the task of forming a band, and three months after the names are drawn there will be a show just for band lotto bands. Does all of that make sense? Good.

You might have a few questions. Can you participate if you don’t know how to play an instrument? That is entirely up to you, but be prepared to learn one. What if you don’t have musical equipment to participate in band lotto? That is something you will have to figure out. What if you get picked with somebody you don’t like or isn’t pulling through? Sorry, the show must go on. Sometimes you didn’t get along with the other kids in the group projects in sixth grade science class either. Does this have to be a band from now on? No, the purpose of all of this is for just one show, but you are welcome to continue your band lotto band after that show if you want to.

So here’s all of the details. The band lotto volunteer bucket will be inside Dumb Records starting right now until May 16th. Putting your own name into the bucket will be the only way to sign up for band lotto. Anyone who wants to is welcome to sign up. Do not put other people’s names into the band lotto, or else this won’t work. Anyone caught breaking the rules will receive one detention after school. We will draw the names for band lotto on May 16th at the very end of the Black Sheep Cover/Benefit Show. From then on the band lotto bands will have three months to get one set or original music together. We recommend sets be 10-40 minutes in length. The band lotto show will be held at Black Sheep on Saturday, August 16th. There are no winning bands, but if bands are successful and are willing they are welcome to continue playing shows.

Good luck out there.
