Looks like things are starting to heat up outside, which means that it is perfect spring weather for coming out to shows at Black Sheep and having a good time! Tonight we now have a five-act show, which has grown from when we first announced the show as having three acts. We still have the lovely Jess Knight of the band Looming performing a solo acoustic set for us tonight. An addition to this show is the Omaha, Nebraska indie rock band- See Through Dresses. See Through Dresses played at Black Sheep a little over a year ago. If you don’t remember them, check out some of their music streaming below. Also still on the bill is the three-piece Springfield emo band, Wir Können. Up before that is The Litchfield-based solo/acoustic act The Incorporated (also an addition to the show). And opening things up we still have the local solo/acoustic act Paqui.

The show tonight starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good list of everything coming up at Black Sheep in the coming months.

Screen Shot 2015-03-05 at 8.31.20 AM

Today we have a very fresh and new video of the Springfield punk band Say Something performing their hit song “Golden Quality” at the Black Sheep last weekend. The show was on February 27th with bands Mystery Gift, WARRS, Milchjunge, and Southern Roots. It was a good time. “Goledn Quality” comes from the band’s Fred Hampton cassette which they released last year. Check that out here.

Also check out our vids/pics page for a good collection of touring and local band videos and pictures from shows at Black Sheep.

The Buzz Interview Wir Können and Looming

hockey-2-750x400

To get ready for a show that happened last night at Error Records in Champaign/Urbana, Champaign weekly newspaper The Buzz got the chance to interview two Springfield bands- Wir Können and Looming. In both interviews, The Buzz talks to bands about what their future plans are, what their bands are about, and how they feel about Springfield and Champaign music scenes. Check out the Wir Können interview “Growing Up With Music” right here, and check out the Looming interview “Looming in C-U” right here.

Here’s a bit from Brandon Carnes in the Looming interview:

I’d love to go anywhere they’ll have us. I think it’s really cool that there’s a pretty positive relationship between the Champaign music scene and the Springfield music scene right now. We have tons of Champaign bands come here [Springfield] all the time and kids come to shows in Springfield from Champaign. I also play in a hardcore band called Diaper Rash and we played at Dingbat Dungeon a few weeks ago. It seems like there are just tons of people going back and forth. There is obviously the relationship between Error Records and Dumb Records. The intercity relationship is really cool right now and I think it’s helping to really grow our community on both sides of the highway.
