Tonight at Black Sheep: Looming, Jared Grabb Among Thieves, Kitten Crisis

Tonight! It’s a Saturday night and we have our second show out of two shows this weekend! Tonight is a three band great pop/indie/pop punk show for all of you who want to feel great and dance. For this show we have Looming, who is currently wrapping up recording an album in South Town Studio. We also have Jared Grabb Among Thieves coming from Peoria, Illinois. Check out some of Jared Grabb’s music on the player below. And Meredosia will no longer be playing this show (sorry) but we do have Kitten Crisis from Galesburg, Illinois to take their place! March 7th at Black Sheep: Jess Knight, Wir Können, Paqui

Looks like on Saturday, March 7th we have a short and sweet three band show that will be our only show happening that weekend at Black Sheep. (Check out that sweet flier up there designed by Cory VanMeter). This show will feature a solo acoustic performance by Jess Knight of Looming. This show will also feature three-piece Springfield emo band Wir Können. Stream some of Wir Können’s music below. We also have Paqui playing some solo acoustic tunes for us. Those are all the acts for now, but we have been told to keep an eye and ear out for one more to-be-announced!

Today on Black Sheep Radio: WARRS

Today is another episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show and behind the very special door we have some very special guests and that is the band… WARRS! That’s right, Dontrell and BJ (pictured above) will be joining our regular hosts for a two-hour comedy filled radio program packed with hits from your favorite local bands and also a few tunes from some bands that will be coming to town. We also might talk to WARRS about what their new band is about and what we can expect from them in the future.

The Black Sheep Radio Show airs today from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm. You can stream the show during the same time online at wqna.org. Also check out our radio page for a list of past episodes that you can download if you happened to miss any.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Mystery Gift, WARRS, Milchjunge, Say Something, Southern Roots

The weekend is here and there is a great all-local show happening at Black Sheep tonight featuring all sorts of different bands of all different shapes and sizes! This show will feature the return of Mystery Gift, who have not played a show here since October! Come out tonight and welcome them back. Also playing is one of Springfield’s newer chaotic hardcore bands, WARRS. WARRS features members of Loses The Mighty and Soap Scum. Up before them is the all-German punk band Milchjunge. Although we don’t want it to be true, we have been told this may be Milchjunge’s last show. Better make sure you are there to see them either way! Also on the show is Say Something, who have also not played a Black Sheep show in a while. If you forgot what Say Something sounded like, you can listen to them on the player below. First up we have a performance by a brand new Springfield band called Southern Roots. Come early to find out what they are all about.

March 15th at Black Sheep: Temple, Statures, Au Revoir Reverend Green, WARRS

Looks like coming up on Sunday, March 15th we have a show happening here at Black Sheep that will surely be great. For this show we have a good chunk of good out of town and touring bands that you should not miss. This includes the post punk band Temple from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You can stream some of their music on the player below. Temples will be out on tour with the band Statures, who are also from Milwaukee and are also playing this show. Before that we have a brand new Bloomington/Normal, IL band called “Au Revoir, Reverend Green” which we have been told features members that there is a good chance you already know. Opening things up will be a performance by Springfield’s newest hardcore freakout band WARRS.

Screaming Females, Shellshag, Looming, Kowabunga! Kid at Black Sheep One Month Away

The Black Sheep Cafe has a big show coming up here in just one month, and that is the one featuring Screaming Females from New Brunswick, New Jersey on Wednesday March 25th, exactly one month from today. Would you look at that, there are even going to be screen printed posters available at the show (shown above)! The full show lineup includes bands Screaming Females, Shellshag, Looming, and Kowabunga! Kid.

Screaming Females also released their brand new album, Rose Mountain yesterday out on Don Giovanni Records. You can go here and stream the entire thing. Also check out a new music video for the song “Hopeless” off of that album embedded below.

Tickets for the March 25th show at Black Sheep are still being sold in advance for $10. You can find them online right here, or also purchase them at Dumb Records during store hours for the same price. Tickets will be $12 at the door the day of the show. April 19th at Black Sheep: The Convalescence, Kharybdis, Nethersphere, Animus, Noesis

For this show we have the return of the Toledo, Ohio metalcore band The Convalescence. The Convalescence last came through and played Black Sheep in May of last year. You can check out their newest music video for their song “The Human Disease” on the player below. This show will also feature the big return of local metal band, Kharybdis who hasn’t played a show here since last spring. We also have a newer Central Illinois metal band called Nethersphere, which features members of DinyourA. Also playing is the Taylorville, IL metal band Animus. Then for the first act we have the progressive metal band from Central Illinois, Noesis.

New Band Pages: Southern Roots

Did you hear there is a new band in town, and they are called Southern Roots? Once again we have another new band page for another new band in town, and this time it is the three-piece hardcore/metal band, Southern Roots. You can check out their new page right here where you can read up more on the band (they do not have any recorded music yet). Southern Roots will be playing their first show at Black Sheep this Friday, February 27th along with Mystery Gift, Say Something, WARRS, and Milchjunge.

Tonight at Black Sheep we have the punkest of shows, coming at you fast on a Monday night. Come out and slam all of your Monday night blues away. Tonight we have the Springfield hardcore band that knows how to rock, Asthma. We also have the return of Cruelster– a band that played day 1 of Dumb Fest 2 back in June. You can stream some of Cruelster’s music on the player below. We also have the band Safety Word coming from Chicago, featuring members of Lord Snow and Sick Sad World. Opening things up is a special performance by the one-man black metal project that came out of our band lotto show back in August called “Sargent Karate.”
