Here’s another show that is coming up quick at Black Sheep that we have to announce! This one is happening on Thursday, September 29th just one week from tomorrow. You remember Euriah– the band from Champaign/Urbana who played that Looming show at Black Sheep last month? Well they are coming back for this one! We also have their new album available for purchase in Dumb Records if you are into them. This time Euriah will be coming with a project based out of Nashville, Tennessee called “Pocket Science.” You can stream some of Pocket Science’s music on the player below. Then we have a couple of locals on this show- including the acoustic duo from Decator- Spooky Poo. Very cool. Opening things up we have a solo set by Bloo Parks of the band Pryss.

This show will be starting at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up at Black Sheep this fall.

Here’s another show announcement for something that is happening in just two days here at Black Sheep. This one is happening this Friday, September 23rd. This one is actually seven whole bands, so it’s kind of a festival. It’s being called the “Farewell Summer Festival” actually, being put on by “Grow The Scene.” The lineup features seven rock groups all from the area. Come out and say a good “goodbye” to summer with us at this show. Here’s the lineup:

Stereo Static
Spooky Action
Bring on the Fall
Schnozzberry Jam
Skunkworks
Resistant to Reason
Sweet Bippy

Wow, that is a lot of bands that start with the letter “S”! Looks like this show will be starting at 6:00 pm, and things will be running late into the night. Tickets for this one are $8 in advance and $10 at the door (for those advance tickets you have to hunt down one of the bands before the show)! Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything coming up at Black Sheep this fall.

In addition to this show, things are going to be crazy because we will be moving an elephant around next to Dumb Records if everything goes as planned. Join us outside the store at 5:15 pm today if you want to help or just watch.

The show kicks off inside Dumb Records tonight at 9:00 pm. We are asking for donations of $3-5, whatever you want. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up around Southtown this fall.

We are mixing things up a little bit more at Black Sheep with this benefit show happening here at the very start of next month on Saturday, October 1st. This one will be a benefit show for local radio station WQNA 88.3, also the station that hosts the Black Sheep Radio Show every Friday. Recently WQNA’s transmitters suffered damage from a storm, which then inspired the idea for a benefit. Part of the proceeds for this show will be going to WQNA. On the bill we have Springfield three piece band SAP. We also have TANG– the band, not the drink, which features Ted Keylon who also has a program on 88.3. Then is The Good Companions featuring Danny Kerwin of Monophonic-Stereo Show on Monday nights. We have one touring band on the bill here, and that is Chicago’s Imelda Marcos. You can check out some music by them streaming on the player below. Then opening things up is Shark Week.

This show will begin at 6:00 pm and admission is $7. You can find a facebook event for this show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.

Today we are bringing you a HOT new band page for the hardcore project put together by Austin Connelly (Wir Können, Montagh, Swamp Rat) called GRINN. GRINN has been around for a minute, but has recently started playing shows under a new lineup. Stream some of their music and learn more about the band on their newly created band page right here. GRINN just played the Black Sheep 11 year anniversary show but currently do not have any other shows lined up.

We cleaned up our “current band” pages section and looks like we are down to 45 current and active bands playing around Springfield listed on our site. Check all those out right here. Do you play in a local band that does not yet have a page on our site? Get ahold of us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will work with you to set one up!

Videos: Livin’ Thing at Black Sheep 7-8-16

Screen Shot 2016-09-18 at 2.39.24 PM.png

Today we bring you a video of Springfield rock n’ roll hardcore group “Livin’ Thing” performing at Black Sheep earlier this summer on July 8th. The video is taken by Texas based world-class videographer Will Mecca and can be seen below. This is also one very rare performance where the band featured a real live 7 foot tall animatronic wolf as a keyboard player. See that wolf in action on the video.

Livin’ Thing currently do not have any shows lined up at Black Sheep, but stay posted. Check out our vids/pics page for a look at more pictures and videos shot inside Black Sheep over the past 11 years.
