Today we bring you a brand new music video from local artist Kid Ziggy, who is a part of the “Zippir Collective” hip hop collective. This song is in more of the pop direction and is called “Upside Down” – you can check out the song and video streaming on the player below. The song features Danny J, and was produced by RJC. The music video was shot by Elijah Settles.
It looks like the Zippir Collective also launched a brand new website at some point recently (Zippircollective.com) and the collective will also be dropping a new EP called Zippir Vol. 1 later this upcoming week on October 23rd. We will be reporting back as soon as that EP is up for streaming.

Are you ready to hear about another Record Store Day that’s coming up? We know what you are thinking, “Are they doing Record Store Day every month now? or every weekend?” Yes, it does seem that way since normal Record Store Day this past year got split into three dates, and we still have the third one coming up on Saturday, October 24th. We are just along for this ride, and it hasn’t ben too bad.
Black Friday Record Store Day is happening this year on Friday, November 27th. The official list of exclusive releases has already been released on the Record Store Day website. Our order was even already due! We ordered it ALL this time!! The number of exclusive releases comes to 133 different releases this time, and we ordered at least one copy of everything. Go check out the Record Store Day website for more that full list as well as info on each release.
We’ll be posting more info on our Black Friday Record Store Day later on, but we will go ahead and say that we ordered all of these exclusive releases and our store will be open that day from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Wow, we are already halfway through October. It will be November before you know it, and we will all be stuck inside for the rest of the winter. This is a little bit of a late post to let you know that we have new copies of Activator Magazine (October 2020 edition) available for free inside our store.
This one features Peoria-based artist (and also full band) Ashley Bean on the cover. It’s jam-packed with other stuff too. There are plenty of local and non-local album write-ups and reviews, also an interview with another Peoria-based band Terribly Happy, Champaign-based artist Emily Blue, another Peoria band called Still Shine, hip hop artist “KP”, Failed Poem Records, a photospread of 217 Burlesque & Curiosities Troupe, and more! Time for us to do a little bit of catching up on some local music that’s been coming out lately. Here is a post to tell you about the third and final Record Store Day “Drop Date” for 2020, which is happening on Saturday October 24th (coming up QUICK). Well… the last “drop date” for 2020, but then Black Friday Record Store Day is just around the corner on November 27th and is still happening. (Maybe we’ll have a separate post for that one go up shortly).
For this third RSD Drop Date, we ordered the most exclusive releases out of all of the drop dates. We will also be sure to be dropping a few other extra new and used records on the shelves for this day. Our store will be open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm this day. As how Record Store Day usually goes, each exclusive release will be available in very limited copies (we only ordered one of each one this time, sorry). They will be available on first-come first serve basis. After the full day is over we will be listing leftovers online on our Discogs page.

A LOT just happened yesterday and we are still trying to recuperate from all of it. For now though, here is our best shot at offering a RECAP of the pinball tournament’s final round, our “virtual cash mob”, and our big new game reveal.
The Virtual Cash Mob was a great success. Thank you to all who purchased items or just tuned in, and thank you to Downtown Springfield Inc. for giving us the opportunity to do that. Our online store from that is now taken down, so if you missed out on those deals we are sorry. Maybe we will do it again sometime. And maybe some tie-dye shirts will make their way into our store eventually.
As for the great Downtown Pinball Tournament of 2020, PRAIRIE ARCHIVES is the winner after winning two out of three games in the game “Blackout” against Craft Beer Bar. Congratulations to Robb and Prairie Archives, who took home the glass trophy made by the SAA Collective. Thank you to all 30+ businesses that participated in this whole tournament, this whole thing turned out better and more fun than we ever could have imagined. You can bet we’ll be doing this again next year, maybe with some tweaks.
Robb got to pull back the curtain on a brand new pinball game in our arcade which turned out to be TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (2020). This game has a built in high definition TV screen, a spinning magnetic pizza, six balls, and is some next-level material.
Earlier this week a video was released by On The Move With Reco Hill – a new local video series which has mostly featured video interviews orchestrated by Reco Hill and filmed by Elijah Settles.
The new video is of some featured performances by some newer up-and-coming local hip hop artists, entitled the “OTM Freshman Class 2020 Cypher.” It was filmed inside of our own space (the closest thing we have had to a show here since March), and you can check that out streaming on the player embedded below. We have a lot happening for this “Virtual Cash Mob” live video that’s going on tomorrow at noon, and we realize that a lot of you might be confused or have no idea what’s going on. That is okay. We are here to try to explain more today.
Here is what you need to know: tomorrow (Thursday) at NOON, there will be a live video on the Downtown Springfield, Inc. facebook page. From there, and also on our own facebook page there will be a link to an online store where we will be listing exclusive deals and products for a limited time. We do not have that link right now, because that store does not go live until noon tomorrow. Don’t worry, if you are following the live stream, there will be links to each product as we list them out and talk about them.
Many of these products will be limited (such as most of the records), so they will be available on a first come-first serve basis. Other products there are more than one of (such as orange tie-dye t-shirts, which we printed ten of) (but still fairly limited).
It might be handy to have our online store pulled up on a computer, and the live video playing from a separate tab or phone screen. (Just a little tip, not necessary to participate)!
When you are purchasing an item from us through the cash mob, local pickup, local delivery ($2 extra), and shipping ($4.90) will be an option for most items. These options will be available at checkout.
All of these items will be available for a full 24 hours. So we will leave up everything we don’t sell during the live video on the online store until Friday at noon. After that leftover items will just be going into our store where you can purchase them in person (however some items may have different prices at that point).
So what’s going on for the final round of the PINBALL TOURNAMENT??? The two final businesses going head to head are Prairie Archives and Craft Beer Bar. This will likely happen at 12:30pm, and all apart of the same live video. They will be playing the best two out of three games in BLACKOUT (pinball game) and we have a trophy for the winner. The winner will also be revealing a new pinball game in the arcade.
