The Skatalites Free Concert (Levitt AMP) Five Days Away

skalevittoficc.jpg

These are crazy times, and even though this is all we’ve been talking about for the past month or so we felt it appropriate to give you all a friendly reminder that the legendary 1960’s original Jamaican ska group The Skatalites will be performing in free in downtown Springfield in five days on Thursday, June 6th. Wow. Dumb Records is on for a main sponsor for this Levitt AMP Springfield concert which is one in ten Thursday night concerts as part of their series presented by PNC Bank. For a full list and descriptions of each of those concerts coming up check out the Levitt AMP site right here.

For those who are not aware, the Levitt AMP concerts take place on the Y-Block right in front of the Governor’s Mansion downtown. All concerts start at 6:00 pm and go until 8:30 pm. For this upcoming Thursday there is an upcoming act and that is local artist Taqsem. Check out some of The Skatalites’ music streaming on the player below. From what we can tell this is going to be one of six shows the band is playing in the United States this year.

What a great weekend this is turning out to be! The official Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series had their kickoff last night which seemed like it was a great success, and we also have a pretty packed show next door to us. And we’ve got Yung Pey opening things up!

New Band Pages: MAC, Kenyon DeShasier

46777662_440950323103403_7885105358937522176_o

Would you believe it but the other day we looked over and realized how terribly not-up-to-date all of the band pages on our site are right now. There are tons of new band projects that have started that we don’t have pages for, and a lot of them we do have pages for aren’t exactly up to date! We are working on it – today bringing you two new band pages that aren’t anything too fancy for local acts MAC and Kenyon DeShasier – both have been playing shows in the area for over a year at this point. On each page you can stream music from both and find links to where else you can find them on the world wide web.

We count 38 current band pages we have on our site right now which is no where near being up to date. We’ll be working on getting this updated these next few weeks! Do you play in a band here in town or are you a solo musician that hasn’t set up a band page with us yet? We would love to hear from you – email us at dumbrecs@gmail.com and we will work with you to set something up!
