Here we are right in the middle of one of the major downtown summer music festivals (Legacy of Giving), and another major one – Downhome has just recently announced a good chunk of their lineup for this year’s festival. This year Downhome Music Festival is happening on Friday and Saturday July 26th and 27th. There’s a total of 28 bands that we count on the flier above announced so far and potentially a few more coming later (the flier says 30 bands total). This is the ninth year of Downhome. Here’s a description from their facebook event:
The 9th Annual Downhome Music Festival will be held on July 26 & 27, 2019 at the corner of 7th and Washington in downtown Springfield, Illinois. The event will feature all local, original live bands (4 stages – constant music). There will be local food vendors, 100 different craft beers, as well as a kids area for the little ones.
Looks like the festival has long time heavy hitting punk rock groups NIL8 and The Timmys on board… also some very rare performances from other original / alternative rock Springfield groups that only come so often from Park and Mr. Opporknockity. You might spot a couple of bands more familiar to the Dumb Records / Black Sheep stage on that lineup suck as Stick People or Kate The Band. Looks like an all around good time.

Dumb Records might be involved with some aftershows this year for the festival – stay tuned for more info on that!
