iriswalk.jpg

Here we are keeping things rolling with what new Springfield music has been coming out recently. This one is a little over a month old it looks like, but here we are bringing it to you today anyways! This is a brand new project called “Iris Wake” put together by Kristin Walker of Moondead, Bad Banshee, and other groups throughout the years. Streaming below is Iris Wake’s Demo which includes two songs. If you are wanting to hear more of Iris Wake, you can check out their bandcamp page where you can find two more songs that were also released earlier this year – “Split” and “Breathe.”

Iris Wake doesn’t have any live shows planned as far as we can tell. We are adding this demo to the releases for this year to our Springfield album archive page – check it out!

We are trying to keep it going on updating our currently pretty out of date list of local active bands on our website! There have been a lot of new bands forming within the past few months, and Blushe is without a doubt one to be paying attention to! So, today we bring you a new page on our site for Blushe – although it might not be much. Check that out right here. Hopefully we can be on the lookout for new recordings and shows from Blushe in the near future.

Check out our current bands page on our site right here. Do you play in a local band or are a local musician who has not gotten a page together with us? Reach out to dumbrecs@gmail.com and we will work with you to get something set up!

The Dixie Narcos: “Soda Pop!,” “Narcan Noises,” and “Prosopagnosia”

If you are looking for your daily dose of new local music you have come to the right place today. Somehow we have completely missed until just recently how much new music Jacksonville based indie/psychedelic band The Dixie Narcos have been putting out. Apparently they have released something like FIVE albums… and like three of them have been within the past six months… WOW. The three latest albums were just recently added to bandcamp, the newest being Soda Pop! released January of this year. You can check out all three of those streaming on separate players below. Head over to The Dixie Narcos bandcamp page to stream the albums as well or download them at your own price.

We are working on adding all of these to our Springfield ultimate album archive page. No, The Dixie Narcos do not have any live shows lined up from what we can tell!

Once again, we are gearing up for another big weekend here in downtown Springfield. As you all should know, The Skatalites from Jamaica play here for free in three days out on the Y-Block downtown as part of the Levitt AMP Concert Series. That is this Thursday night. Then Friday and Saturday night is the Legacy of Giving Music Festival going on downtown for the fifteenth consecutive year if you count its predecessor music festival, SOHO which started in 2004. Legacy of Giving, or LOG Fest has their own website where you can check out a list of bands right here. We’ve found their schedules for Friday and Saturday posted above might be the best way to figure out what bands are playing where on each of the five stages at what times on Friday and Saturday. We got that from the festival’s facebook page. We hear there is a total of 67 bands (we’ll believe that number without trying to count all of those).

This year Dumb Records and Bread Blasters is involved with one of the official aftershows Saturday night, which is also in conjunction with the Creative Earth Art Show happening at our space this Saturday, June 8th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Find more info as far as artists involved right here. We do have poetry and musical acts from Fuzzlove, Cody Jones, Hope Fiend, and Shatriya Smith. The event is also free!

Find a facebook event for all of Legacy of Giving right here. By the way, admission for the festival is only $5 and goes to a bunch of different local charities! All ages of course!

Just a couple of weeks ago she released a new song called “Three” which you can find streaming on the player below. Head over to Flunkie’s bandcamp page to find more music or download this track at your own price.

Flunkie will be playing next at Bread Stretchers at a show on Wednesday, June 19th along with Kate Laine and Jordan Collins. Find a facebook event for that one right here.

Did we tell you about this show yet? No. Okay. We’ve got some catching up to do on June show announcements it looks like. This one is happening at our shows space on Saturday, June 15th and you should all come. It’s going to be the tape release show for Springfield hardcore group Final Order, which we have been waiting on recordings for forever. The touring act on this bill is “While God Sleeps” playing some metalcore from the heart of Minnesota. You can stream their music on the player below. Also on this show from the other end of up north is Hushed from Detroit, Michigan. Then we have familiar group to Springfield “Time & Pressure” from St. Louis – playing at Bread Stretchers for the first time. Opening things up is… Foam Fangers! Also playing for the first time at the new spot. Nice.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is going on coming up at Breads R Us in the near future.

Local Drags: “Shit’s Lookin’ Up”

a2370306241_10.jpg

Today we are happy to be blessed with a brand new album for a (kinda) new local group, and it rocks. The new-ish local group is called “Local Drags” featuring members of Starter Jackets and other bands. They have been around for a minute we guess but haven’t really played a whole lot in town. That’s gonna change though – they have a show lined up as a record release here at our spot on June 28th. If we haven’t made an official announcement for that show yet, we will very soon. You can stream Local Drags’s debut album, Shit’s Lookin’ Up, on the player below in its 10-track entirety. The album is actually being released on real vinyl on Stardumb Records and It’s Alive Records. Head over to the Local Drags bandcamp page to also stream the album or purchase the mp3 download.

Check out that facebook event for that release show right here. We are also adding this one to releases this year on our Springfield album archive page.

The Skatalites Free Concert (Levitt AMP) Five Days Away

skalevittoficc.jpg

These are crazy times, and even though this is all we’ve been talking about for the past month or so we felt it appropriate to give you all a friendly reminder that the legendary 1960’s original Jamaican ska group The Skatalites will be performing in free in downtown Springfield in five days on Thursday, June 6th. Wow. Dumb Records is on for a main sponsor for this Levitt AMP Springfield concert which is one in ten Thursday night concerts as part of their series presented by PNC Bank. For a full list and descriptions of each of those concerts coming up check out the Levitt AMP site right here.

For those who are not aware, the Levitt AMP concerts take place on the Y-Block right in front of the Governor’s Mansion downtown. All concerts start at 6:00 pm and go until 8:30 pm. For this upcoming Thursday there is an upcoming act and that is local artist Taqsem. Check out some of The Skatalites’ music streaming on the player below. From what we can tell this is going to be one of six shows the band is playing in the United States this year.
