We finally just got a page together for Springfield powerpop supergroup (is it okay that we call this one a supergroup, please?), Night Night Boy. Night Night Boy started as a project in Pennsylvania by Brandon Carnes during his time out East and now here it is as a full blown band in Springfield. Check out that new page, right here. And see Night Night Boy live in concert next at our space on Tuesday, August 20th along with Lowfaith and others.

We currently have 45 current band pages up and rolling on our site – yes, there are a few bands playing shows we still have to make pages for and there are some pages on here for inactive bands that we need to update! If you play in a Springfield band or are a solo musician get in touch with us at dumbrecs@gmail.com and we will work with you to get something set up!

Today On The Dumb Records Radio Show: Dexter Anodyne

DEXTER_HELP.jpg

It’s Friday so that means it’s another episode of The Dumb Records Radio Show live on air from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Today we are happy to welcome on guest and musician Dexter Anodyne, who will be having an album release show at Dumb Records at midnight tonight! We will hopefully be playing some tracks off of that album, talking to Dexter, as well as playing plenty of other new local music and bands that are coming to town.

Again, our show airs today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM, and is also streaming live online at that same time at wqnaradio.org. We have been recording our episodes and have some past ones streaming on a newly created Mix Cloud page! We will be sure to record this one as well.

(Midnight) Tonight at Dumb Records: Dexter CD Release, Downhome Music Festival This Weekend

downhomeaftershow4

The weekend is here and we are trying some new things! There are a lot of downtown festivals to keep up with anymore, but this weekend is the big Downhome Music Festival that happens around this time every year. We are actually involved with the festival this year with two official aftershows happening tonight and tomorrow night at our space, both at midnight!

Tonight’s midnight aftershow is also the CD release for local solo artist “Dexter.” We are very excited for Dexter’s new album Weeping Venus. You can check out one track off of that album “The River” right here. The CD is being released by a brand new local lable called Signal Element Records. Also playing this show is Derrick Streibig from the band We Are Warm, and also Jeff Williams of NIL8. That starts over at our space at midnight tonight, admission is $3. We are requesting no outside drinks at this show. Find a facebook event for that tonight right here.

Of course in addition to just what we’ve got going on tonight, we have another midnight after party going on at our space tomorrow as a CD release show for Master Bastard, which you can find more info about right here. Music is also going on downtown all weekend as part of Downhome Music Festival – we will post the photo of the schedule for the main festival below. Tickets for both days are $6 at the gate, and the main stages are located at 7th street downtown. Find a facebook event for Downhome Music Festival right here.

August 9th at Dumb Records: Rockford (Final Show), The Telephone Junkies, Sorry Charlie

rockfordweb.jpg

Today we have a pretty big last minute show going on to tell you about. It’s actually just two weeks from tomorrow happening on Friday, August 9th! Wow! This one is going to be the last ever show for local band Rockford! The last time Rockford played was the final final last ever Black Sheep show back in December. This will be their first time performing at our new space and their last show before some of them depart off to college and different cities into the big world. Good luck to all of them. Stream their music one last time on the player below. Also playing this show is Rockford’s long time friends The Telephone Junkies. And opening things up we have the return of another band we have not seen in quite a minute – Sorry Charlie!

All of this starts at 7:00 pm that night and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page to see what else is coming up in the near future at our space.

Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s Big Act Confirmed For September 30th, Serious About Locking In Sponsors For A Big Announcement

whocoulditbenow.jpg

Earlier this month we put a feeler out there hinting that we were possibly going to be taking on helping book another huge show at Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s this fall. The teaser went well and we got a good amount of interest in potential sponsors that would be willing to help fund the concert to make sure it could happen as a free show out at the legendary Stevenson Hardee’s stage.

Today we are letting you know that we have locked in the act that we were trying to get – so now we need to be serious about getting sponsors locked in so that we can meet the band’s needs and make it a free show for the public. We are trying to get sponsors and local businesses locked in as soon as possible so that we can have them all finalized for a big announcement!

If you are at all interested, please email us at dumbrecs@gmail.com or call us at 217-691-8991. All sponsors will be listed on the final poster which will be going up along with the big announcement, and distributed around town. Your logo or name will also be up on a banner at the event, and we also have limited table or tent space for potential sponsors to set up depending on who is interested. Thank you!

Rather Dashing: “Feeling Blue” / “Wasted From The Start”

Today we bring you two new brand new tracks from local rock group Rather Dashing. Those tracks are called “Feeling Blue” and “Wasted From The Start” and you can find them both streaming on the player below. Also head over to the band’s bandcamp page where you can purchase the download of the songs at your own price.

Rather Dashing will be performing at Downhome Music Festival this Friday at 7:45 pm. They are also lined up for a show at our space exactly one month from today on Saturday, August 24th. The band released a collection of seven songs “Live From The Studio” last year.

August 24th at Dumb Records: Chance Reiniesch, Rather Dashing, Kenyon DeShasier

66764810_349536279057343_1055103396807180288_o

Time for us to tell you about another show going on in August in about a month! This one is on Saturday, August 24th and features a couple of acts performing at our space for the first time. Chance Reiniesch is a vocalist / musician from Gillespie, Illinois (pretty close to here) and is having this one as his big album release show. The flier up there says record release but we are fairly certain the album will be available on CD. We don’t have any music of Chance’s available to share with you right now but we will soon. Also on this show and playing our new spot for the first time is local rock group Rather Dashing. Looks like opening things up is a performance by Springfield’s own smooth beach pop artist, Kenyon DeShasier.

Ahhhhh. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Start time is 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Also be sure to look at our shows page for a look at what else is coming up! Bye!

DreTheGuy: “Lapis Effect”

Screen Shot 2019-07-22 at 2.33.53 PM.png

Today we are bringing you the stream of another new local hip hop album coming from local artist “Dretheguy” aka “DeAndre“. The album is called Lapis Effect and you can find all nine tracks of that streaming below, or right here on soundcloud.

Dretheguy actually performed this past weekend at Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s believe it or not at the “Take Back The City” event. We are also adding this album to our Springfield music archive, which brings us to a total of 29 releases so far this year!

August 23rd at Dump Becords: Eyes From Above, Baltic To Boardwalk, Reaver, Graveswitcher

67070315_2598323673552317_7000065049096093696_n.jpg

We’ve got another show coming up in about a month! This on is Friday, August 23rd and is a mixed genre show of sorts. Looks like we’ve got the first metal band lined up in the new space(?), with Eyes From Above from in and around the area. Nice. The touring band on this show is Baltic To Boardwalk from Fargo, North Dakota, which is actually a band that has played Black Sheep some years ago. Stream some of Baltic To Boardwalk’s music on the player below. We’ve also got the Alton, Illinois emo group Reaver playing at the new spot for the first time (they had played Black Sheep a good number of times as well). Opening things up is hard and nasty hardcore group from right here in Springfield, Graveswitcher.

This show kicks off at 7:00 pm and it’s another $7 show. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a nice look at what else is coming up at Dump Records in the near future.
