What’s up chili fan’s, and happy tornado drill Tuesday. It’s Tuesday, so that means we are bringing you a list of what’s new over in our store, and also a short list of some things we expect to be getting for new release Friday. We do NOT have any shows lined up this whole entire week or weekend (wow), in fact our next show is not until Saturday, February 15th. This weekend we do however have the Vintage Love Tour happening in our space from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, so be sure to stop by especially if you want to get some Valentine’s Day shopping in. February 29th at Dumb Records: Golden Curls, Derrick Streibig, Imaginary Colours, Emily Perkins

We have a lot of show announcements to catch up on all of a sudden. Wow. Here is one happening on leap day in fact! Saturday, February 29th. It’s another one presented by The Radon Lounge and Baristie Boys’ Coffee (or something like that). This show features out of town St. Louis indie-pop act, Golden Curls. You can stream their newest album on the player below. We also have the return of Derrick  Streibig – from the band “We Are Warm” based out of the Girard, Illinois area. Up before that we have Imaginary Colours… performing inside of our new space for the first time? Is that true? We might be mistaken on that, but come out to see it either way. Opening things up is a younger singer/songwriter from Petersburg, Emily Perkins performing at our space for the first time.

This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Oh! We almost forgot, there is a featured local artist for this show! The works of Jen Santarelli will be on display inside of our show space! Deezy Da Paperboy: “Memories”

Local / Lincoln Illinois-based artist Deezy Da Paperboy is continuing his ambitious project of releasing new music ever week here in the year 2020. Today we bring you a new track of his called “Memories.” From Deezy’s facebook page:

This Song was inspired by my Late Aunt. She just passed away from Cancer. Though we all know It was coming. One is never prepared for the loss of someone so significant in your life.
It made me reflect on death and what i, one day too will have to Leave behind. What my Legacy may be.
And what Memories you will have of me.

February 25th at Dumb Records: Melanie Davis, HECK, Ricki Marvel, Kate Laine

It is February, and these next few days we are going to start announcing some shows we got going on later on this month like crazy! This one is happening on Tuesday, February 25th and we highly recommend attending. For this one we have jazz-folk artist Melanie A. Davis coming from the small town of Murray, Kentucky. You can stream her new album which just came out on the player embedded below. Also on this show is Bloomington, IL-based solo artist HECK (aka Hannah Songer) who we have not seen in a minute. Up before that is Ricki Marvel, performing here for the first time since her brand new album, The Prisoner came out earlier last month. Opening things up is Kate Laine (The Kate of Kate the Band).

Today we bring you a brand new album from a local hip hop act we were unfamiliar with before now. That is from “SaveYourSelf” who also goes by “C-Klip” who just released his new album, Silent Suicide Chapter 1. The album is streaming on audiomack online right here. We also have it embedded in the player below (hopefully the embedded player works)!

We are adding this one to our Springfield album archive page for 2020, bringing us to our fourth release that we have kept track of so far this year.

Terrell Burns featuring Kdoe2x: “On My Name” (Music Video)

Today we bring you a new music video from local R&B / hip hop artist Terrell Burns, who is on the current HISO Music roster based out of here in town. That new song and video is entitled “On My Name” and features other area artist “Kdoe2x.” You can check out that new video streaming below, or find it on youtube right here. This video was Terrell has also hinted that he has a new album in the works to be released soon, so keep a lookout for that!

Tonight at Dumb Records: Kate The Band, Sidestep, Molly O’ Malley, F///\\\M

It’s February! Wow, spring is around the corner and we have this show happening tonight with this very white and yellow flier. Tonight is mostly solo acts, but at the top of the bill is Kate The Band. Tonight we have two touring acts coming through from Louisville, Kentucky. The first of those is called “Sidestep“. You can check out a song by Sidestep on the player below. Sidestep is touring with Molly O’Malley, a piano and guiatar solo act also from Louisville. Check out some of Molly’s music right here. Then opening things up is a familiar act but one we have not seen in a minute –  and that is the return of the relaxing ambient loop pedal project F///\\\M (standing for “Family Man”).

Gnarly Beth, Pledge Drive, Big Tobacco, Telephone Junkies, Dexter Anodyne

Today we have a show to tell you about happening much later on in March. That is on Saturday, March 21st. Mark your calendars. For this show we have the big return of “Gnarly Beth,” who were formerly known as “Carly Beth” (not to be confused with “Charlie Beth” or “Charlie Brown.” The band decided their name after an ongoing lawsuit with a different Carly Beth. They are from Champaign and performed at our space earlier on last year. The other touring act on the bill is Pledge Drive from Chicago. You can check out Pledge Drive’s music on the player below. Oh, what’s this?? We actually have a third out of town act on the bill, and that is indie-rock group Big Tobacco from St. Louis! Joining all of this is local support from two acts. The Telephone Junkies, who just recently performed here are on the bill. Opening things up is Dexter Anodyne, who is amazing.

Kid Ziggy: “Take A Hint” (Song / Video)

Today we are bringing you a new song and music video that was recently released by local hip hop artist Kid Ziggy. Kid Ziggy is a part of the Zippir Collective along with Papa Luke and other area artists. That new song is called “Take A Hint” and you can find it embedded on the player below. The track can also be downloaded online right here.

Kid Ziggy released the full album U, God & Smoke along with Papa Luke last year. Check out our vids/pics page for a long list of music videos from local artists shot over the years.

February 15th at Dumb Records: T-Roni, Dirty Da Don, Clutch, Fly Rich, OM33ZY, Extravagant, BabyPac

Today we are bringing you the announcement for our next hip hop show which is coming up QUICK on Saturday, February 15th, and is quite possibly the most stacked hip hop show we have ever put on here. There are SEVEN performers all on the bill for seven dollars, ALL of which have not yet performed at our new space here downtown. At the top of the bill we have the queen of 217 hip hop and one of the best in our area, T-Roni. T-Roni performed at Black Sheep as well as all over the country and has won numerous contests for her performances. Also on this show we have long running local hip hop act Dirty Da Don performing here at Dumb Records for the first time. Stream a new song featuring both Dirty Da Don and T-Roni below. CLUTCH is another one on the bill, a long time performer here in town and had been on a few shows back at Black Sheep! Before that we are gonna Fly Rich! With Fly Rich! Who else do we got… OM33ZY from the area who has worked with a good number of other local artists and performed a few times at Black Sheep. Towards the beginning of the lineup we got a newer artist going by “Extravagant.” Opening things up is the first Springfield performance for BabyPac, who moved here from Galesburg, IL a couple of years ago.
