We are reporting on this here news that most of you probably already know about. It’s once again time for the Illinois State Fair, it’s just right around the corner and only a few weeks away (like 27 weeks in fact). The Illinois State Fair will be happening this year on August 13th through the 23rd. Last week the State Fair announced some of their headlining grandstand acts. The first up is the 26 year old singer songwriter, Kane Brown. Then big country legend Toby Keith. Something about a Neil Diamond cover band. Another country act, Chris Young. We have big time rapper LL Cool J performing… for the first time in Springfield(?) And then of course we have Puddle Of Mudd.

That’s what they have announced so far, folks! Tickets for some of those acts go on sale online on April 25th. Stay tuned for more State Fair announcements, you can pay attention to the Illinois State Fair website, or follow them on facebook. Will this year top Joan Jett and Snoop Dogg? Let us know in the comments below.

Good morning, world. Today we bring you a fresh new track (fresh out of the oven) from local rap artist from Lanphier High School, Nkeyla Henderson. Nkeyla (also known as Keyng) has a new track  called “Mad @ You” which you can find streaming on the Youtube player embedded below, and features another artist “Zacari.”

Nkeyla performed at a hip hop show at our space back in September. The next show we have lined up at Dumb Records is another hip hop show.

Starter Jackets: “Fucked It Up For Everyone”

Whoops, this is one that came out last year that we definitely missed on our site. Better late than never, right? At some point later last year Rad Girlfriend Records (small record label based out of Ohio) released a brand new 7″ featuring four brand new songs from Springfield’s very own Starter Jackets. Rad Girlfriend had also released the bands full length LP, Decisions back in 2018. We do not have any of the new 7″ in stock, but we do have a few copies of Decisions over at Dumb Records. Stream Fucked It Up For Everyone on the player below. You can head over to the Rad Girlfriend Records bandcamp to purchase the download or order the physical 7″ record.

We are also adding this one to our Springfield album archive page for last year, bringing us to 498 local releases catalogued total.
