NPR Illinois: “Businesses Worry Online Sales May Not Be Enough To Sustain Them”

wild_rose

We are in the news again! Today, NPR Illinois published an article – “Businesses Worry Online Sales May Not Be Enough To Sustain Them.” Although the title seams grim, we are very thankful for the amount of support we have been getting. Dumb Records owner Brian Galecki spoke with NPR about how even though our online sales are thriving right now, it still will be a while before we can host live events. A snippet from the article:

Brian Galecki, owner of Dumb Records in downtown Springfield, normally sells records and CDs, but since the pandemic hit, he’s been selling t-shirts online. He said his online sales have been strong.

“A big challenge in that still is that even with us doing well, we’re still going to be less than what we would be doing if our physical store is open,” Galecki said.

You can check out that full article online at the NPR Illinois site right here.

Again, we are very thankful for the amount of support we have been getting, and we feel we are in a good spot as of right now with our store keeping up with bills! We also are very grateful to anyone who donated to our GoFundMe campaign last month!

Record Store Day 2020 Postponed *Again,* “Drop Dates” Announced

95068449_10163150907470276_1481933394097995776_o

It comes as almost no surprise at this point, but the already post-poned date of June 20th for Record Store Day 2020 has once again been post-poned by the Record Store Day organization and also split up into three different “drop dates.” The few hundred exclusive releases, which were originally slated to be released this April, and then June, are going to be split up and released on those three different dates. Those drop dates are August 29th, September 26th, and October 24th.

There will be a new version of “The List” with dates on which item is being released on the Record Store Day website on June 1st.

As of right now we are unsure to what extent if any at all Dumb Records will be participating in this. We feel it might be best to scrap this year altogether and focus on a normal Black Friday Record Store Day in November, or focus on re-opening our store this summer whenever it is safe to do so.

Dumb Records Baseball Tees Available (Some Sizes Already Sold Out)!

shirtbaseball

Amazing. We dropped some hot, fresh, and new new shirts on our online storenvy store. They are baseball tees (pictured above) printed on supersoft Bella Canvas brand shirts by MilesTShirts. We can’t believe how many we sold in the first… it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet, and we are already out of stock in some sizes. Looks like we are going to have to be getting more printed! And wow we are pretty low on the pink and yellow tees that we released last week!

These run for $16 online – if you live in Springfield select the “local shipping” option on our store and we will deliver them to you at no cost! Check out everything we have in stock at our online storenvy store right here!

Kdoe2x: “Hard To Speak”

Screen Shot 2020-04-24 at 6.50.13 PM

Today we bring you a brand new song and video from HISO Music affiliated artist Kdoe2x. The song is called “Hard To Speak” and you can find that video for it, shot by Glass Imagery on the player embedded below. Here’s a description of the song from Kdoe2x’s facebook page:

TODAY FOR MY 18TH BIRTHDAY I WANT TO BRING ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM SUICIDAL THOUGHTS‼️‼️THE PURPOSE OF THIS VIDEO/SONG IS TO BRING AWARENESS TO THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS SUCH AS DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, PTSD, ETC. BUT DON’T KNOW HOW TO COPE WITH IT. A LOT OF TIMES AS HUMANS WE TEND TO IGNORE THE SIGNS OF SOMEONE IN NEED BECAUSE WE ARE BLINED BY OUR OWN PROBLEMS AND ADVERSITY. A LOT OF TIMES WE TEND TO BELIEVE THE ONLY WAY TO EASE THE PAIN IS TO REMOVE OUR SELF FROM IT PHYSICALLY WHILE BEING IGNORANT TO THE FACT THAT IT DAMAGES THE ONES WHO LOVE US THE MOST💔. TO ANY ONE FEELING THESE EMOTIONS (Loneliness, Betrayal, Depressed, Etc.) I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT SUICIDE IS NEVER THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEMS (IM SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE). PLEASE, IF YOU ARE HAVING THOUGHTS OF SUICIDE OR SUSPECT ANY ONE SHOWING SIGNS, CONTACT THE SUICIDE PREVENTION LIFELINES NUMBER BELOW.

Also check out a list of other local music videos on our pics/vids page.

Illinois Stay-At-Home Order Extended To May 30th, Curbside And Delivery Options May 1st

Screen Shot 2020-04-24 at 1.38.06 PM

Above is a picture of Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker walking six feet apart from some penguins. This is definitely not a news news website (just local music news), however the most recent extension of the stay-at-home order issued by the governor yesterday of course effects us because it determines at what point we will be able to open up our store again. The most recent extension has the stay-at-home order going until May 30th. This means our physical store will remain closed throughout the entire month of May.

However! The good news in all of this is that curbside pickup and delivery is now opening up as an option for non essential businesses such as ourselves starting on May 1st. We have been keeping things to shipping and “free local shipping” throughout April. Starting in May we may be considering having curbside pickup as an option for local orders – however we have not completely decided yet.
