Tonight at Black Sheep: Pound For Pound, Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi, Up In Arms

400096_10151306236895675_1190975250_nIt’s Saturday night and tonight we have a three-band three-dollar show featuring three great local bands! First up is the pop-punk band Up In Arms! The last time they played at Black Sheep was at our Holiday Show (which we all had a blast at). Then we have ska-punk act Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi playing Black Sheep for the first time since September! And finally we have the long running Springfield hardcore band Pound for Pound. You heard some of their new songs on the radio yesterday, now come out and hear some of those new songs live at the show tonight!

Pound For Pound and Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi on Black Sheep Radio Tomorrow

Those are the guys you are going to be listening to on air tomorrow if you tune into Black Sheep Radio tomorrow afternoon/evening from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. On tomorrow’s radio show we have Chuck, Gary, and Kenny Pounds from bands Pound For Pound and Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi. Both bands will be discussing their upcoming show on Saturday and also plans for recording new material. We also caught word that Pound For Pound may be debuting some new material on the radio show! Artifacts Saturday: “Aerosolics Anonymous

74967_579577598723917_541481237_nOur neighbors over at Artifacts have some cool stuff going on this winter/spring! If you happen to be at the Black Sheep show on Saturday with Pound for Pound, Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi, and Up In Arms you might want to take a peek inside Artifacts (located right next door at 1107 South Grand). On Saturday they will be hosting a new exhibit called “Aerosolics Anonymous.” From the Artifact’s facebook:

We will be hosting an opening for the new exhibit at artifacts on Saturday from 5 till Midnight where you can view and purchase work from some of the more prolific artists in the underground Springfield art scene. Music food and drinks will be provided and an auction will be held at the end of the night for an original piece to be collaborated upon by some of the featured artists. The auction will run online via our FB event page until Feb 2. Proceeds from this show will be put tword getting some affordable paint for sale in the store so we can give back to the artists that support our hustle.

Our Lady Tour Updates

Tonight the band will be playing in Gainesville Florida! New Band Pages: Dreameater

Calling All Black Sheep Street Team Members

IMG_1192As you may know, we have a few big shows coming up at Black Sheep this spring. We need as much help as we can get promoting these shows and getting the word out! If you would like to be a part of the Black Sheep street team or have any ideas on how we can promote shows better then we need you! We will likely be meeting on this upcoming Sunday evening at 7:00 pm at the Harm House (you can email us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com for the address).

A big show we need help promoting is the Teenage Bottlerocket/Off With Their Heads show. We have plenty of posters to pass out for this and if you come to the meeting Sunday we will give you some to hang up/pass out! If you are unable to leave your home you can still help us get the word out about the show online! The link to the facebook event for the show is right here. At the meeting Sunday we will also be talking about bigger shows that are in the works and ideas for the spring and summer. Everyone is welcome to come to these meetings.

 

2/11 at The Radon Lounge: Mr Nasti, Runaway, Luzhin Defense, Hushpad, Like… With Jetpacks

radon-feb11bThere is a mixed genre show going on at The Radon Lounge that with such a great mixture of bands that we felt we had to mention it to you all on here. Five whole bands are playing! The show is on Monday, February 11th. The show is a part of the “True Love Tour” featuring acts Mr Nasti and Runaway! Mr Nasti is a combination of electronic, folk, and psychedelic music all in one bundle. Then Runaway describe them selves as “electronic, house, and metal.” Then for local bands we have The Luzhin Defense, which is an experimental electronic project. We also have Hushpad, the shoegaze project from Lincoln, Illinois. And to top it all off Like… With Jetpacks will be playing a set of video game themed rock.

Teenage Bottlerocket Off With Their Heads Ticket Info

TBROWTH_ticketphotoLook at that everybody! The tickets for the recently announced Teenage Bottlerocket/Off With Their Heads show on March 11th are in and ready to go! We are selling tickets for the show for $8 in advance (they will be $10 at the door). The tickets pictured above are now being sold at Black Sheep during any show, and also at the Rock Shop.

You can also easily pre-order tickets online on our big cartel page. For that you can go here. For those of you who wish to pre-order tickets online this way, we will keep a list of all of your names and all you have to do is present a photo ID at the door.

The Teenage Bottlerocket / Off With Their Heads show is happening Monday, March 11th at Black Sheep. Also playing are local bands The Timmys and Hospital Job. A facebook event was also recently created for the show, which can be found here.

And if you weren’t then maybe it is time to reconsider! Springfield pop punk group Up In Arms have been added to the show! The show now features three local bands including Pound for Pound, Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi, and Up In Arms. There’s three good reasons to go right there.
