Park Interviewed by “PropertyOfZack”

996167_558497067527447_2107790928_nLadd Mitchell of Park was recently interviewed by music publication and blog PropertyOfZack. In the interview Ladd talks about future plans for the recently reunited Park including their plans for releasing new music. You also may have seen a bit on the interview in the popular music website Punknews.org. You can check out a piece of the interview below, or find the whole thing at PropertyOfZack here.

Park has been dead for several years, which led you to Tiger Tank. When exactly did this reunion start to take shape?
December of last year. Actually, at my wedding. For months prior, I had asked Miles to practice or to get the band back together. I think he thought I was joking. Finally, we were at a bar after my wedding and I said, “Lets just do it.” When we practiced, it was like we had never stopped playing. I thought it was going to be a shit show. We had practiced here and there for reunion shows, but it had probably been two years since I played any Park songs. We had a lot of fun, then sat down after practice and decided we wanted to do it. I told them ideas I had for future plans, and they wanted to do it.

Even though you’ve done reunion shows, deciding to make the band active again must have been a thought out decision.
I think we all had that connection, and that we were all curious to see what everyone else thought. It was one of those situations where I think everyone was thinking the same thing, but we were all too scared to say it. And then we eventually all said we wanted to do it. Three years again, Alex, Miles, and I talked about being a band again but it didn’t go anywhere. Life happened. Alex had a kid, I had a kid, and it just wasn’t feasible. That was short lived and we never told anyone about it. This time around, it’s been a whole different thing.

Tiger Tank happened last year. Did you envision that being a one and done project, or did it just go that way?
I actually wanted Tiger Tank to do the project that Park is now going to do. I kind of thought to myself that I was pretending to be my old band. I didn’t like that, which is one of the main reasons I spoke to Miles about my plan. Tiger Tank is still a band. I think the direction we’ll go is the complete opposite of Park. We were never really a touring band. It was really fun recording with Beau Burchell in California. The Kickstarter experience was invaluable too. I learned a lot of things not to do when we do a Kickstarter with Park.

Park will be playing their next show at Fubar on August 17th as a ten year anniversary show to their album It Won’t Snow Where You’re Going. They announced their reunion on Black Sheep Radio in May.

New Solo Projects From Members of Worms/Montagh

a3074497399_10We have some new Springfield and Springfield-related music to show you today! These are both new solo projects featuring members of the bands Worms and Montagh.

First up is a new song from Tara of Worms/Montagh. Her solo project is called “Douglass” and you can check out a new track called “Rut” on the player below. The track comes from a new solo album she has coming soon entitled Out of a Rut.

The second project we are a little late on bringing you news on, but Austin of Worms and Montagh has a new project called “IAMIAM” (pronounced I am, I am). You can find a couple of tracks from the project below.

Montagh (which features both Austin and Tara) will be playing at Black Sheep next on Tuesday along with Unraveler, Highwayyys, Self Proclaimed Narcissist, and Lovecow. They will also be playing at Black Sheep Fest on Saturday, July 27th.

August 12th at Black Sheep: They Eat Their Own God, Discourage, Scott Blacula, Gutterpriest, Yusuke

380184_337231619664293_1092981107_nIt’s another August show! This one is happening on Monday, August 12th and it is surely going to be a blast. We have a band called They Eat Their Own God coming from Columbia, South Carolina. They play some crusty type of metal and you can check out some of their music below. Next up we have the band Discourage who are also from South Carolina and are on tour with They Eat Their Own God. Onto the Springfield bands! Scott Blacula will be playing and will also be ready to destroy whatever band that dares to crosses their paths. We have Gutterpriest, the solo noise project that will melt your brain. First but not least we have the return of Yusuke from the cities of Peoria and Bloomington, Illinois. You may have seen their set at Skank Skates at Dumb Fest in June.

The show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Five bucks for five bands isn’t bad! You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also don’t forget to check our shows page for a look at what’s next at Black Sheep.
