AudioFeed Music Festival This Weekend In Champaign/Urbana

20130518-195528-665294Earlier in May we told you about a new music festival happening in Champaign/Urbana this summer that would in ways replace another large Central Illinois music festival of the past called Cornerstone. The festival is in fact happening this weekend on Friday and Saturday July 5th and 6th at the Champaign County Fairgrounds. For ticket info, as well as a full lineup of bands and much more you can check out the AudioFeed website. There will be multiple stages at the festival, including one “Black Sheep stage” ran by Springfield’s very own Kevin Bradford. Bands playing this stage include Maylene & The Sons of DisasterThe ScurviesThe Skies Revolt, and many more. The festival is being put together by those who were involved with putting together Cornerstone Music Festival in previous summers. Here is a list of other things going on from the website:

We will have music.  Good music.  Maybe some big names yet to come, maybe all the kinds of bands that made Cornerstone great – the underground and unknowns that are, frankly too creative, too intensely passionate to receive broad market appeal,

Camping – RV and tent sites.

Speakers – you’ll know that we are doing what we’re doing because we are passionate about following the example and teaching of Jesus.

Community.  We were created for community. The combination of everything above, experienced with friends old and new.  That feeling… if you’re one of “us”, I don’t need to explain it.  If you’re not, we welcome you to experience it with us.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Pound For Pound, Black Mask, Big Storm, Execution Techniques

4thjulyHappy Fourth of July everyone! Tonight we have a special mixed-genre show to celebrate the Fourth. It is sure to be a blast. Tonight we have Springfield long-running hardcore punk band Pound For Pound. Next up we have the return of Black Mask, the fast and heavy hardcore band from Pennsylvania. The last time they played here was in October. Next up is Big Storm! They might be the odd band out on this bill, but that won’t stop them from bringing the feel-good rock and bringing it hard. Opening the show up is Execution Techniques. It has also been some time since we have seen a performance by them inside of Black Sheep.

The show starts at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5. A facebook event can be found right here. You can also check out what other shows we have coming up this summer on our shows page.

It also might be the first post-Black Sheep Fest 2013 show? We will have to see. This show will feature Nephrons. The last time Nephrons played at Black Sheep was at our cover show in May. There are always new bands and projects popping up in Springfield, so we try to keep up with our current bands lists. Today we have a new page set up for a newer solo project in Springfield called Borealis. You can check out that page right here. Head over to our current bands page to see a growing list of (almost) all active bands in Springfield. Do you play in a band or know of one in Springfield that we don’t have a page for? Shoot us an email at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will build one together!
