It’s another week at Southtown Springfield record store Dumb Records (located at 1107 South Grand Ave. East). This means there are plenty of new arrivals, including a big stack of new LPs from your favorite Sub Pop Records bands. Dumb Records will also be having a tent set up at Downhome Music Festival downtown this weekend, so be sure to check that out if you are at the festival! Also on Sunday Dumb Records will be having a 10% off sale on everything in the store during the Black Sheep Open Mic! Tonight at Black Sheep: King Worm, Dark Thoughts, Kowabunga! Kid, Sneaky Creeps

Tonight we have a real fun show happening at Black Sheep for all fans of punk, pop punk, and any type of jumping around or dancing. Tonight we have a performance by Springfield’s own King Worm featuring their real vocalists Mike Tirehaus in the flesh real life. And on tour from Philadelphia and playing this show is Dark Thoughts, featuring members of The Holidays and Bad Side who have played at Black Sheep in the past. Stream some new Dark Thoughts songs on the player below. Before them we have everyone’s favorite Champaign/Urbana punk band, Kowabunga! Kid. And opening things up tonight we have a last minute addition to the show and that is Sneaky Creeps from Kansas City, Missouri.

August 8th at Black Sheep: Fel Fae, Tare, Weeping Iniquity, Bo Mellado

Time for a little bit of a last minute show announcement for Black Sheep! This show is happening this upcoming Saturday on August 8th. This show is a little last minute, and it’s also happening at 2:00 pm. There will be some type of Southtown Barbecue going on so that makes even more reason to come out! For this show we have the instrumental rock group Fel Fae, who is also playing the show tonight. We also have a band called “Tare” on tour from New Orleans. This band features members of the band All People, who played at Black Sheep this past April. Check out some of Tare’s music streaming on the player below. Also on this show we have an act called “Weeping Iniquity” that we do not know much about, and opening things up will be a solo performance by Bo Mellado hopefully performing some acoustic Asthma songs.

Again, this show starts at 2:00 pm on Saturday and admission is $5. This will get over early so you can go check out some of the bands playing Downhome Music Festival downtown that same day! Tonight at Black Sheep: SAP, Moon Hag, Fel Fae

Tonight we have the three piece indie/grunge band SAP playing for us all. The touring band from Canada is called Moon Hag and they play psychedelic punk stuff. Check out some of Moon Hag’s music streaming below. Opening things up is a performance by the newer instrumental project Fel Fae. Try not to miss those bands!

Sneaky Creeps Added To August 3rd at Black Sheep

That addition is the band Sneaky Creeps from Kansas City. The band needed a show last minute, and we were able to help them out! You can check out some of Sneaky Creeps’s music streaming below.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Until We Are Ghosts, WARRS, Threads, Vacant Skies, Nick Harlow

There is a show happening tonight at Black Sheep! We don’t have any shows this upcoming Friday or Saturday so let’s come out and make sure this is a good one. For this show we have Rochester melodic hardcore band Until We Are Ghosts returning to Black Sheep for the second time this year. You can stream some of their music on the player below. We also have the local screamo/hardcore band WARRS going on before that and causing chaos on the stage. Touring with Until We Are Ghosts is another act called “Threads.” Threads are from Martinsburg, West Virginia and play emo/hardcore. Earlier on we have Vacant Skies from around the area playing metalcore, and opening things up is a solo set from Nick Harlow of the band Loses The Mighty.

Epsom: “Ah, Youth!”

a0511168514_10Springfield rock group Epsom have released their new LP, Ah, Youth! up for streaming online. The album was released earlier this month on vinyl LP. You can stream the whole album on the player below, or head over to the band’s bandcamp page where you can pay to download the whole album or look into ordering the physical copy.

Check out a lyric video for Epsom’s song off of the album- “Damn & Blast” right here. It looks like Epsom do not have any shows currently lined up, but we will be sure to keep you updated as soon as they do.

Slacker Tapehead: “Slacker Tapehead”

Today we bring you new music from Springfield solo ambient electronic project Slacker Tapehead. Slacker Tapehead is 5 tracks of improvised electronic music recorded on a Fostex X-28 multitracker by Eric Rogers of The Luhzin Defense. The result is a very spacious and experimental collection of synths, guitars, vocals and other sounds that will appeal to fans of experimental music and post-rock.

Slacker Tapehead’s debut is available for streaming and download now on Bandcamp with a cassette release to follow. No live shows are scheduled for Slacker Tapehead right now, but keep your eyes and ears peeled!

August 15th at Black Sheep: Black Sheep Art Show

It has been a little while since we have had an art show set up at Black Sheep! Today we are announcing one coming up in just a couple of weeks next month! This will be happening on Saturday, August 15th. Here is who we have lined up for artists participating in the show so far:
