The past couple of days has already been a great weekend of shows here at The Black Sheep, and we are keeping it going with a huge night of music happening tonight. Of course tonight we have the band everyone loves – Looming making a return and playing their first Springfield show since this past March. The band is completing a tour with Lemuria with this show. Stream their new single on the player below. We also have Euriah– a new hit indie/pop band from Champaign playing. Then opening things up tonight is Vonne, who also played last night.

Then we will swing on over to Dumb Records right after those three bands, for another three-band show. For that one we have Whitewash coming from Texas and playing some fast hardcore punk. We also have the Champaign/Springfield/Chicago hybrid band Dry Heave tearing things up in the store. Last but not least is Springfield rock group GRINN.

All of that starts at 7:00 pm inside of Black Sheep, that show is $5 and we will be taking donations for the Dumb Records show. Check out facebook events here and here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.

Our Lady: “Sleep Study”

Our-Lady-band-2016.jpg

New Noise Magazine is premiering yet another single from Our Lady off of their new album Lure. The song is called “Sleep Study” and it is the third single to come from the album. You can also stream the song on the player below. Check out the New Noise article here.

Our Lady performed Lure in its entirety at Black Sheep last night, and they have left today to play a few shows out of town to celebrate the new album. Our Lady’s label Mayfly Records also did have some bad news to announce regarding the pressing of the new album yesterday:

BUMMER ALERT: It was brought to my attention earlier this week that the pressing plant was having issues with the masters for Our Lady’s LP Lure. The test presses sounded great, but as they started pressing the full run they experienced issues. The plant did everything they could, but ultimately they are going to have to re-cut one of the masters. I hate to break this on what was to be the record release date, but we really tried to make it work. We will have more information about this release soon, and we will ship presales the minute we have them.

Stay tuned for more on another Our Lady Springfield show very soon, and more updates on when the new album will be available on vinyl over at Dumb Records.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Stereo Static, Vonne, Blind Social, The Incorporated, Fill In The Blank, Gadget

We have a good amount of bands all from the area playing tonight at Black Sheep, this one is being called the “Sunset Spectacular Show” and it is sure to be a good time. This includes six bands. At the top of the bill we have the alternative rock band “Stereo Static” who set up the show. You can stream some of their music on the player below. We also have the all-local pop group Vonne performing (formerly known as “The Locals”). We also have Fill In The Blank, filling in all of those blanks on this show. Then we have Gadget– an emo band from Decatur who will actually also be playing our Battle of the Bands on July 9th (very cool). Before them we have Blind Social on the bill, the alternative rock n’ roll indie rock band. Check out some of Blind Social’s music on the player below. Last band is The Incorporated! based out of Litchfield and Macomb these days (we think). We are not sure what order those bands are going to play, so show up early and catch the whole thing!

The show tonight will start at 6:30 pm, and admission is only $5 for 6 bands. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer and fall!

It looks like the Our Lady LP release show turned into a monster of a show and we now have five bands on the bill all playing tonight! Tonight of course features Our Lady for their big show. Stream one of the singles off of their new album below. Then we have the Central Illinois based shoegaze band Lavender playing here at Black Sheep, possibly for the first time since their EP release show earlier this year? Then we also have emo post-rock band Krelboyne rocking it on the stage from Champaign, Illinois. Then we have two bands that have been added since the first lineup was originally announced! This includes Staghorn from St. Louis who also played here back in April. Then the fifth band on the bill is “Hikes” from Austin, Texas and if you don’t like it you can go take a hike, mike!

Tonight starts promptly at 7:00 pm at Black Sheep, and admission for the show is $5. You can find a facebook event for tonight right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at everything coming up in the next few months at Black Sheep.

We just got done with a weekend full of theater at Black Sheep, and now with it being Monday it’s time to get back into the swing of things with some regular shows. Tonight we have a show featuring Springfield 90’s alternative rock band The Complaint Line. Then we have the interesting and experimental group The Cell Phones from Chicago, you can stream some of their music on the player below. Also on the bill before all that we have the three-piece band Moondead. Opening things up tonight it looks like we have the surfy durfy local band The Suction Cups.

All of that tonight will be kicking off at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything coming up at Black Sheep in the next few months.

For this show we have Springfield hardcore band Pryss who just got back from an eight-day tour. The touring act we have on this one is Prom Nite all the way from Toronto, Canada. Check out some of Prom Nite‘s music streaming on the player below. Other than that we also have the first Black Sheep performance for a new Peoria-based powerviolence band called “Stye” lined up for you all. Then before that we have the punk band Say Something taking the stage, and opening things up is a related project called “Statues of the Dead” which you might know as the band featuring a five-year old on drums from our Battle of the Bands last month.

We are all about the theater performance happening this weekend today on Blacksheepspringfield.com, that is for sure! We felt like we had to mention this segment that WUIS and The Scene put together on the performances of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” this weekend. Hosts Rachel Otwell and Scott Faingold sat down with The Absurdist People’s Theatre to talk about the new theater group and what some of us can expect to see inside Black Sheep this weekend.

You can find the episode of The Scene streaming on the player below. Also head over to the WUIS site to stream it there or find older episodes of The Scene, which airs once a week. The first performance of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” kicks off tonight at 7:00 pm.
