Boy are we late to the game on this one. About a week and a half ago Springfield-originating band Looming released a brand new single, and their first new music released since last year’s album Nailbiter. The new single is called “Tried & True” and you can find it streaming on the player below. Check out the artwork for the single above. Check out the song’s debut and article on Brooklyn Vegan right here. Also head over to the band’s bandcamp page where you can download the song for $1.

Looming are currently touring out to Wrecking Ball Fest in Atlanta, Georgia and then around the US with Lemuria. They will be closing all of that off with a show in Springfield right here at Black Sheep on Sunday, August 21st. Better RSVP to that if you haven’t already!

August 26th at Black Sheep (Benefit) Spooky Poo, Gadget, Bring On The Fall, Skunkworks

benefitfixed.jpg

On Friday, August 26th we have a show coming up at Black Sheep that is going to be a benefit for a family based out of Decatur, Illinois who recently lost a son. This show will actually feature four bands who also all played our Black Sheep Battle of the Bands last month. This includes “Spooky Poo” from Decatur, who you can find on the player embedded below. Also from Decatur and featuring some of the same members is the band Gadget! Then we have the Taylorville-based alternative rock band called “Bring on the Fall.” Then it looks like opening things up is the Jacksonville-based newer band who won our judicial vote and recorded demo portion of the battle of the bands- “Skunkworks.”

This event will be starting at 6:00 pm, and admission is $7. Everyone is welcome to come and support. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page right here where you can find what else is coming up in Southtown the rest of this summer and early fall.

Screen Shot 2016-08-10 at 7.43.28 PM.png

Tonight we are bringing you a video of one of the first shows of new Springfield band – Undone, who has been doing a lot over the past few weeks but is also having to go on a (possibly temporary) hiatus due to band members moving this fall. Undone features members of Garter, GUSH, and Green Messiah. You can check out a video of them performing at Black Sheep on August 1st along with Blank Spell, Moondead, and GRINN below. Thanks to Ted Keylon for taking video!

Keep a lookout for one final Undone show for a while to be happening sometime very soon! Also keep an ear out for a recorded demo sometime in the near future. Also check our “vids/pics” page for a better look at other videos from bands who have performed here over the years.

You all know that on Sunday, August 21st we have something big planned at Black Sheep – and that is the return show for half-Springfield band Looming. That show is happening at 7:00 pm along with bands Euriah and Vonne. Today we are telling you that we are adding a three-band punk show later on at Dumb Records to the mix to make it an all around crazy night. The show happening inside Dumb Records will include the touring band Whitewash from Austin, Texas which you can find streaming on the player below. Also on this show we have Dry Heave, making a return to Springfield for the first time since Dumb Fest. And then we also have the newly-formed GRINN on the bill.

This show will start at around 9:00 pm inside Dumb Records, right as soon as Looming is done playing inside Black Sheep. Donations will be taken for the touring act. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page right here for a look at what else is coming up in the next few months.
