Tonight on tour the band Devil’s Den from Kansas City, Missouri is coming. You can stream their music on the player below. Devil’s Den will be on tour with other hardcore group Outcast from Kentucky. Also on this show we’ve got two locals. We have Prowess, who just recorded new material in some fancy studio somewhere. Opening things up we have Final Order.

Have you heard the four song release by the newest Springfield doom / experimental project called “Foot”? Well here it is streaming on the player below, all four tracks. You can also head over to Foot’s bandcamp page to pay to download the tracks. It’s heavy stuff.

Foot is actually performing at Dumb Records this upcoming Friday for Black Friday Record Store Day! That show starts at 7:00 pm inside the record store and is free. More info on that right here.

We also added this release to our list of 2018 releases in our Springfield album archive. We are adding to the list and gearing up for our annual Best of Springfield Music 2018 poll soon!

Today we are bringing you some photos taken from Black Sheep Band Lotto 2018, which was just last night (wow that was quick, wasn’t it)!? There are 27 photos total, check a few out above and below. Last night all seven bands that were drawn took the stage in some form or another (which might be the first time in Band Lotto history that that was the case). Band Lotto Band #3 “EGGMAN” also made Band Lotto history by being the first band to show up to the show with a physical release of recorded material which was a limited run of 25 lathe cut records. The record was “Record of the Night” pictured below.

Go check out all of the photos from last night right here. Check out our shows/vids page for more photos taken over the years at Black Sheep. Gordon Chang was also taking video last night and you can probably expect those videos to turn out soon. Activator Magazine was also there taking more photos, so there are more on the way!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Band Lotto 2018

46350766_1991876010855825_5955074762672701440_o.jpg

Tonight is a special night at Black Sheep because it’s the show for our Black Sheep Band Lotto 2018! This is the fifth year we have done this event believe it or not – back in September willing participants put their name into a box to be drawn in groups at random to be given the task of forming a band with these groups to perform one show. Thirty people put their names in this year and seven bands were drawn. We will see how many of them get up on stage tonight! It will surely be a fun time no matter what.

Things start tonight at Black Sheep at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5. Definitely come out even if you didn’t put your name in the box – or if you did and things didn’t work out for your band, come out too! Find a facebook event for band lotto right here. Check out our shows page for a look at everything coming up at Black Sheep this year.

BFflier_webfinal.jpg

Hey! Did you know that one week from tomorrow is one of the biggest days of the year for us at Southtown Record Store Dumb Records? That’s because it is Black Friday Record Store Day, which happens every year (similar to Record Store Day in April). This year that is taking place the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 23rd. The store has a good number of exclusive releases coming in as usual, but will also be doing the biggest sale we have ever held – 50% off the entire store (new and used). Wow! In addition to all of that there will be a show in the store at 7:00 pm, which is free!

Let’s take a look at the acts performing for the in-store show at 7:00 pm. The one full band we have on the bill is a newer Springfield project and from our understanding a heavier band called “Foot“. You can stream some Foot on the player below. Also performing is Kenyon DeShasier. Kenyon makes a lot of music, you should check out his Youtube page. Before that we have excellent musician Matt LaMarca. And opening things up looks like we have a solo musician from Winchester, IL who recently put out an album that we carry in our store on vinyl – Stuart Smith.

The store is open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm for Black Friday (wow). It’s probably safe to say that we’ll have coffee and donuts for all of you early birds. Check out a facebook event for Black Friday at Dumb Records here. The 50% sale applies to everything except those exclusive releases. Do you want that list of exclusives? Here you go:

Hi all, are you ready to hear about the next show that we have lined up at Black Sheep? This one is happening this upcoming Wednesday, November 14th. It features a touring hardcore band from Cincinnati, Ohio called “Flesh Mother.” Stream some of their music on the player embedded below. We also have heavy Springfield hardcore act Graveswitcher on the bill. Up before those two are – who’s fangers? Foam Fangers– the rowdy Springfield punk group. Opening things up it looks like we have a noisy performance by Gutterpriest– back from the dead?

All of this starts on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.

Tonight at Black Sheep: KaBass, Mario, Ghost, Kid Nightmare

It’s the weekend! And it’s cold outside! Well guess what, our heat is working great inside Black Sheep and we’ve got a different show going on tonight than we usually host. It’s a night of electronic and dubstep music. This show features long running Springfield electronic project KaBass. We also have “Mario” aka “Funky House”? Who is also based right here in Springfield. Another group on this bill is “Kid Nightmare” coming from St. Louis. You can check out a 25 minute long piece by Kid Nightmare on the player below. The last group on the bill is “Ghost” – which apparently is some hip hop from Peoria! All sorts of great things going on!

This show starts at 7:00 pm typical show time and is just $5. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else we’ve got coming up at Black Sheep for the rest of this year.
