Screen Shot 2016-04-09 at 4.10.46 PM.png

We just can’t get enough of The Studio Show– the new TV show / web series that has sweeping all of Springfield art and music for the past few months. The show is already onto it’s eighth episode which debuted a little over one week ago. This episode features local artist Brett Freeman, who we have seen around Black Sheep and was responsible for one of the Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s fliers as well as plenty of other drawings you may have seen. The musical guest this week was Timothy Donavan Russell, who actually just played the “Ambient Blast” at Black Sheep last weekend. And of course pictured above you can catch a rare sighting of Austin Duffie of the band Milchjunge as another featured guest on the show.

Watch the new episode below, or head over to The Studio Show’s youtube page where you can find all past episodes.

Tonight there is a show happening at Black Sheep (sorry our post is a little late today)! There have also been some slight changes since this show was first announced. We will have Springfield/Champaign/Bloomington emo-rockers Wir Können on board for this show. You can check out some of their music on the player streaming below. Unfortunately the touring band (American Jobs) had to drop this show (sometimes stuff comes up, ya know?). In their place we have Mike Butler of The Locals performing a solo set. We also have a set by the wild and crazy T.A.N.G. (The Avant National Guard). Opening things up still is a solo set by Paqui.

This show will still start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a complete list of all of the shows we have currently lined up at Black Sheep.

You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. Then the third band on the lineup is The Origin Story– the six-piece real deal ska project based out of Lincoln, Illinois who have played here at Black Sheep in the past. And then one band has got added to the lineup since we originally announced the show and that is the fast punk rockers Say Something. Don’t miss out on those bands!

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a long list of upcoming shows at Black Sheep over the next few months.

Y0u should be able to stream some of their music there streaming on the Reverb Nation player right at the bottom of this post. We also have solo musician Ashley Riley on the bill, playing some dreamy alternative folk music. And the third act on the bill is another solo musician Erisa Rei based out of Lincoln, Illinois. Come ready for some good times and good tunes.

Record Store Day 2016 April 16th at Dumb Records

RSD2016_big

How could we forget that one of the biggest days of the year for vinyl collectors and record stores will be happening this month? That’s right, Record Store Day is officially Saturday, April 16th this year and of course Dumb Records is a participating store this year along with Recycled Records and The Elf Shelf downtown. We have a few big things planned for record store day this year so there will surely be something in it for everybody. First off, the list of exclusive releases that Dumb will be getting in is by far the biggest list we have ever had. We put an entirely separate page together on our site and you can check that out right here. That list is what we anticipate getting in the store for the very special day. Aside from the list, all non exclusive RSD items in the store will be 20% off! And to top it all off, yes there will be live music in the store! We have DJ Tariq (New York’s Deadliest DJ) coming and performing at some point during the day. Check out the official Record Store Day site right here.

Record Store Day will be happening at Dumb Records for 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (get in line!). Find a facebook event for Record Store Day right here. Also check our shows page for a list of other events coming up in Southtown.

We have added a new band page for one of the newer Springfield hardcore bands, Pryss. Pryss features members of GUSH, Mouthsex, Wilt Candy, Table Drama, and more. Pryss will also be playing next at Black Sheep on Wednesday, April 13th along with Violence Creeps and Livin’ Thing. They will also be playing Dumb Fest 4-Ever.

Check out any of our 60+ current band pages we have set up right here. Do you perform in a local band or are a solo musician that does not have a page set up with us yet? We would love to hear from you! Email us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will work with you to get something set up.
