bxs13years_2.jpg

Could you believe it, but The Black Sheep is going to finally be a teenager this month. That’s right, two weeks from today on Saturday, September 15th we are celebrating our 13th birthday as a venue and all ages show space in Springfield (the very first show was September 16th, 2005). We have quite the lineup of acts to go along with. This includes Jacksonville-based psychedelic band The Dixie Narcos which you can find streaming on the player below. We are excited for them. We also have Reaver coming from the Alton, IL area, good friends and familiar faces to our space. Before them is the newest two-piece punk / chaos group called “Uncle Sam’s Mutagenic Children“. Wow! At the start of the show we have two solo sets – one is a rare solo set of Brandon Carnes (that’s right, not F///\\\M), and before that a solo set by Jameson Bullock.

All of that starts at 7:00 pm and admission is just $5. Check out a facebook event for that show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this fall. Oh! By the way, this show WILL be the drawing for Black Sheep Band Lotto 2018! More info on that will be posted very soon!

Low and behold, we now have an official band page up and running on our site for Foam Fingers, the new-ish Springfield punk band whose first release we shared with you all yesterday. You can check out that new page right here where you can stream music, read up more about the band and find links to all of their social medias. Foam Fangers don’t have any Black Sheep shows lined up at the moment, but you can look out for more in the future.

Looks like our current Springfield band count is about 50-some and we still have some new projects to make pages for! Check out our current bands page right here. Do you play in a Springfield band or musical act and have not yet set up a page on our site? Email us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will work with you to set something up!

Foam Fangers: “Foam Fangers EP”

a2874378339_10.jpg

Have you heard about one of Springfield’s newest rockin’ punk bands, Foam Fangers? Yes, it’s true. The band (pictured above) started towards the beginning of this year and put out a ten-track EP earlier this year which we are here sharing with you today. You maybe have caught their set at Black Sheep Fest earlier this month. Check out that new 10-song EP streaming on the player below. Head over to the band’s bandcamp page where you can download the release for $6.

Does Foam Fangers have any shows lined up right now?!?? It doesn’t look like they do at Black Sheep, but be on the lookout for more Foam Fangers shows in the future.

P.S. we are going to be working to get our Springfield Album Archive project more up-to-date with releases like this one from 2018 here in the coming days.

Tonight we are bringing you a few photos that were taken from Black Sheep Fest 2018 which happened earlier this month on August 11th. This was the 11th Black Sheep Fest we have held at our venue, highlighting local music in Springfield (wow)! Check out a few photos above and below, or head to our facebook photo album here, or our flickr album here. These were taken by Brian Galecki. Activator Magazine’s own Carol Weems also took a good amount of photos which you can find on the Activator Magazine facebook page here. And of course our hero Gordon Chang is BACK at recording videos after a year-long break, with videos of most of the full sets from the fest which you can find on his channel right here. Check out a list of photos and videos from past shows and fests at Black Sheep on our vids/pics page.
