Tonight at Dumb Records: Prevention, Payasa, Pucker Up

Happy Monday, guess what – there is a show happening here at Dumb Records tonight (the first hardcore show of 2022 for us) – there have also been some lineup changes on this one even since we announced it one week ago on our site.

Tonight! We still have Springfield hardcore legends Prevention playing last, headlining the gig. We also still have the main touring band on this one – “Payasa” from Chicago. You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. The lineup changes are happening on the opening acts – the previous bands which all started with the letter “P” from out of town are no longer playing. Looks like they found another local “P” band and that is “Pucker uP.” Tonight’s show of course, has been brought to you by the letter P.

This show starts at 7:00 pm on Monday and admission is $7! The arcade will be open! Find a facebook event here. We do have a couple of other shows lined up in the coming weeks and months we’ll announce soon. Here’s a covid policy update as well:

Masks? Please wear masks for this show, probably not required for future shows after this one?
• We’re not checking for vaccine or negative test status anymore. Horray.

Record Store Day 2022 (April 23rd) List Released Online

Good afternoon! Today we bring news about an upcoming Record Store Day – the organization of Record Store Day is back this year with a more return-to-normal big RSD even in April, which is how things were in our pre-pandemic world.

Record Store Day is happening this year on Saturday, April 23rd (Jeff’s birthday). There have been 326 titles announced for Record Store Day this year, all of them released online through the Record Store Day website right here. Surely this is going to be our biggest Record Store Day yet as we always try to go bigger and bigger every year- also there are a few notable things with this list! Record Store Day is mainly in April, however we noticed that there are 31 items on this list mixed throughout that are being released June 18th for a separate “Drop Date!!!” We will be ordering everything being released both dates, but be careful to look for those release dates when looking at specific items on the Record Store Day website!

We also have this list printed off in our store for you to look at and help us know what to order the most of by placing small check marks next to items you know you are going to want. Our store will open at 8:00 am on that day like we do for every Record Store Day, and we will likely have an exclusive shirt printed for the first people that are in line. It looks like Recycled Records will be participating to some extent as well, in their latest announcement they have extended the closing of their store and sales to the end of April.

Bottom Bracket: “A Figure In Armor”

We better get back to the local music news sometime around here. This band isn’t even local anymore, they moved to Chicago. But they are still in our hearts. 3-piece “sparkle-math-noodle-punk” band Bottom Bracket have dropped a new 5-track EP entitled A Figure In Armor out on Rat King Records. You can stream that new EP on the bandcamp player below! Also head on over to Bottom Bracket’s bandcamp page to purchase the download of the album. We will have copies available on CD at Dumb Records here in the coming days.

Bottom Bracket released their full length album I Don’t Care Enough To Stay right at the start of the pandemic in 2020. They are also of course playing at Dumb Records tonight along with Attic Salt, The Telephone Junkies, and Marble Teeth. The show starts at 7:00pm.

Tonight at Dumb Records: Bottom Bracket, Attic Salt, The Telephone Junkies, Marble Teeth

Good morning and happy Sunday! We never really made the official announcement on our site here that shows at Dumb Records are BACK, for the first time in 2022, the case numbers for covid-19 in our area have gone back down and we are ready to rock and roll once again. We don’t really have anything else announced other than this show happening tonight right now.

So tonight – we have a killer lineup of acts performing at our space. Bottom Bracket makes their Springfield return for the first time since moving to Chicago, (did you know they moved to Chicago?) (they had some lineup changes and moved to Chicago at some point during all of this), they also just put out a new EP! Stream it on the player below. Also up on deck (and probably playing last in the lineup) is heavy hitting pop punk band Attic Salt. Here is a secret: their latest album Get Wise is up in the Dumb Records charts the most popular album we sell next to Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. In the middle of the lineup is the indie alternative band The Telephone Junkies, they are from all over the place nowadays. Opening things up is Marble Teeth from Decatur.

Nice. You can check out a facebook event for this show right here. Oh yeah, it starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $10. We still have rules in place for shows regarding the pandemic. Either proof of vaccine (any shot) OR proof of negative covid test within 72 hours is required upon door entry, and masks are required at all times during the show. Thanks and see you all tonight!
