Lincoln’s Legends New Season Starting July 6th… Inside Dumb Records?

Screen Shot 2016-06-30 at 6.45.09 PM.png

We are all about the twists here at Black Sheep and Dumb Headquarters. We are also about friends and other people doing things and making stuff happen in this beautiful city of Springfield. We have been supportive of Lincoln’s Legends Podcast and Jeremie Bailey and the effort he has put in to seek out and highlight creative minds in our town. Just recently Jeremie and Lincoln’s Legends announced plans for a second season to kick off in just one week… and it’s happening inside Dumb Records! That’s right, Lincoln’s Legends has picked Dumb Records as a new stomping grounds for a new season starting this summer. The Springfield-based podcast will continue with interviews highlighting people doing creative things in our town, and this time the interviews will be conducted on our own couch. Check out the very interesting trailer on the player below to see how this new season is starting off:

The July show announcements are piling in harder and faster than we can almost keep up with! This one is happening on Sunday, July 24th and it packs some serious ROCK we are also not sure we can handle. For this show we have the band HOUND (featuring members of Bad Side and Ted Leo & The Pharmacists) coming from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. To go along with that type of serious rock, we have Springfield’s most serious rock band- Livin’ Thing lined up on this roster. Before that is the relaxed and *chill* Champaign-Urbana 90’s rock band Copper Blue. Then kicking things off we have the very first ever show for a new Springfield band going by the name of “Chili Mac.” Show up on time to find out what that is all about.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $6 this time around. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

The touring package includes the band The Cambion (pictured above) from somewhere in Indiana and Illinois. Then coming from a little bit farther away is the band Fail To Decay from Minnesota. Stream some of Fail To Decay’s music on the player below, it’s metal. We’ll see if any other local acts get added to this!

Tonight we can’t believe how super-solid of a pop punk show is going on at Black Sheep. We are talking about the good kind of pop punk here, and then a touch of other stuff to make for an all around good show. We have a couple of bands who haven’t played here in a minute. Tonight Horrible Things will be coming as part of their summer tour- featuring Tim Reynolds originally from Springfield, moved to Champaign, then moved to Chicago. [Now the band is based out of Chicago]. Stream their newest LP on the player below. We also have Springfield pop punk greats, Hospital Job who have also not played here in a minute. Then we have everyone’s favorite grunge punk band SAP taking the stage. And looks like up first we have the second ever show for a new Springfield band called Attic Salt that we are excited about.

It’s been a minute since we’ve gotten on track with adding new band pages to our site. We better get on that more often, because there have been plenty of new bands popping up this year! Today we have a new page for the two-piece electric ukulele project, Sweet Bippy. On the page you can stream some of their tunes, read up on the band, and find other links to their music and contact info. Check that out right here. Sweet Bippy will be playing next at Black Sheep on Wednesday, July 13th along with Panzys and Lower Automation.

Check out any of our 60+ current band pages on our site right here. Do you play in a local Springfield band or are a solo musician that does not have a page set up with us yet? We would love to hear from you! Send an email to blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will work with you to set one up.

What’s this! We are having an acoustic/folk punk type show at Black Sheep. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen one of those! For this show we have the touring act Ankle Grease stopping by and performing for us all. The whole city is invited! Ankle Grease is from New York and you can stream some of their songs on the player below. Very cool. Also folk punk and on this show is C Is For Cadaver who is from the area. Then possibly before then we do have a very rare acoustic performance happening from Jeff Williams of the mighty, and the legendary punk band NIL8 that you all know and love. Make sure to catch that. Opening up the show looks like we have another very rare performance by the spoken word/musical project Honey//Suck.

This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5, make sure not to miss any of it! You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.
