Roundtable Meeting 11/18 RECAP

Last Sunday a few of us met to discuss the upcoming Black Sheep Radio Show. We talked about what we want to have on the show and how we plan on organizing some of the music. Here is some of the things we are looking to have:

– interviews with bands
– new and old band recordings
– recordings from regional and national acts that will be playing Springfield soon
– bands play live in the studio
– funny segments highlighting the many personalities of Springfield’s music scene

Then a couple of days ago we started putting together music for the radio show. Right now we have a total of 64 albums and 568 songs, but those still need to be sorted through so we can determine which can be played on the radio. We really need the help from those of you in bands right now get music together. You can send us music in the form of mp3s to blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com or also give us CDs at any Black Sheep show. It would also be helpful if you told us which songs are radio friendly and which are not. Hosts for the show are also to-be decided.

The next roundtable meeting will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday December 2nd.

Some Things Can’t Be Ignored: Dead Zebbra Live in 2009

The Springfield-related music blog Some Things Can’t Be Ignored has featured a new post containing live recordings of a Dead Zebbra set at Music At The Mall in Iowa in 2009. From Some Things Can’t Be Ignored:

What we have here is a killer performance from the fellas on Halloween of 2009 at Music at the Mall in Keokuk, Iowa.  The lineup for this show was Nate on guitar and vocals, Todd Plummer on bass and Kyle Wells on drums.  Short, but INTENSE set!!  …and they even do a Nirvana cover, so watch out for that!  This recording was later taken to the studio for “cleanup”, so it sounds pretty darn good!

You can check out the full post and download the live recordings here.

December 21st: Brandon Carnes, Jessica Knight, Lovecow, Austin & Austin: The Band

Though no one knows the truth behind the Mayan prediction of what will happen on December 21st, but we all know that there is a 110% absolute chance that this show will be a fun time. This is a stacked show if I have ever seen one. First off, we got Austin & Austin: The Band fresh out of the music oven. Second is the beloved acousti-chaos group Lovecow. Next is Jessica Knight. That is right, THE Jess Knight of Our Lady. Will she be playing Our Lady cuts? You’ll have to come see. To close off the possible apocalypse we have the masterful Brandon Carnes, the mastermind of Big Storm and ever beloved Midnight Fall (never forget).

This madness costs $5 and starts at 7pm. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Just in case the world doesn’t end, you can see what other shows are going on RIGHT HERE.

The show is December 2nd and it starts at 8pm. The Facebook event for it is here. Looking for things we have discovered on our quest for cool? Check out this list.
