a2209794637_10Yesterday we brought you news that Springfield’s band of villains and heels Scott Blacula have somehow come back from the dead and have evolved into a new band called Table Drama. You can find our post about that with a video of what happened at the show last weekend right here. Today we are bringing you a brand new song from the new band Table Drama featuring the same members of the band that once was Scott Blacula. The song is called “Hangin’ With Mr. Benoit” and you can stream it below. The song comes from the band’s upcoming Heel EP which does not yet have a release date.

Roundtable meeting Wednesday (10/23)

photo-3

This week we are taking our roundtable meetings a step out of the usual Saturday afternoons that we have been doing. This week we will be meeting on Wednesday (October 23rd) at 7:00 pm. We are mixing up the meeting time this week because there are some big things that have been bubbling around in the behind the scenes at Black Sheep. Come out to the meeting so that we can tell you what’s been happening and you can offer us some input!

The meeting is at 7:00 pm Wednesday at Black Sheep. Anyone and everyone is welcomed to come. If you can’t make it and would like to offer some help don’t worry! You can check our get involved page for when the next meeting will be and a list of other things you can do to help or volunteer.

“Scott Blacula is done. We are TABLE DRAMA”

tabledrama

Those of us that were at the show at Black Sheep last night were taken by surprise as The Pukester and his gang of villains stormed their way onto the stage for a whole new level of shenanigans. They appear to be a part of a new band that shares the same members as the recently disbanded Scott Blacula, but they are now calling themselves “Table Drama.” You can check out the video of what exactly went down last night below.

The people you knew as Scott Blacula have evolved into a new beast. A whole new level of terror that none of you could ever understand or comprehend. Ladies and gentlemen… you know who we are but you don’t know why we are here. We have a mission to accomplish. This shithole needs to go up in flames.

Scott Blacula is done. We are TABLE DRAMA.

There you have it folks. Scott Blacula has evolved into Table Drama and The Pukester is back.

Records and the release for the new cassette is scheduled for November 15th. From Our Lady’s website:

Hello friends! We are really excited to say that the reason we have been recording is that we will be doing a very “special”, limited run cassette re-release of our E.P. “Dawning” through It’s a Trap! Records ! The reason we say “special” is the entire E.P. has been revised, re-recorded, remastered and it will also come with all new artwork as well as two new songs! We are very excited to put out a version of “Dawning” that not only makes a jump in recording quality but more closely resembles our original idea for the E.P. “Dawning” will be out on cassette November 15th and pre orders will be up within the next week through: Itsatraprecords.com. Check out the artwork and also Its a Trap! and all of their awesome releases.

Sunday at Brewhause: 19/20 Years of Tom Irwin

tomirwn

This Sunday at long running Springfield bar The Brewhaus, there will be a celebratory night honoring 20 years of Tom Irwin playing there on Sunday nights. The flier pictured above does say 20 years… but Tom might have miscalculated and it might be an actual 19 year celebration. From Tom’s column in The Illinois Times:

This Sunday we celebrate an anniversary at the Brewhaus. The venerable downtown bar opened in 1994 as the first of the new wave of downtown drinking and entertainment establishments. I’ve made a mathematical memory error for years now, always celebrating my events there as if I had started in 1993. But the light came, the darkness lifted and I’ve been shown the error of my ways and next year we will celebrate completing 20 years of live music at the same venue. But please come celebrate this Sunday as we begin the 20th year of yours truly at the Brewhaus nearly every Sunday at 7 p.m. with guests Murder of Crowes.

Tom Irwin has been a solo musician in Springfield for a while now as well as a columnist for the music section of the Illinois Times. There will be a show at Black Sheep on Sunday, but for those of you who are ages 21 and up you might want to head over to Brewhaus and celebrate 19 or 20 years of Tom Irwin. Their show starts at 7:00 pm and also features Murder of Crowes.

Tom Irwin was featured as a guest on The Black Sheep Radio Show earlier this month. You can download that entire episode right here.

The Illinois Times: “Graffiti Grows Up”

imagesnewsA_01.16920.widea.0The Illinois Times have published an interesting article this week in their issue discussing graffiti in Springfield and also touching up on the mural on the side of Popeye’s Barbecue we told you about last week. You can see some of the progress on the new mural pictured above. From The Illinois Times article:

Wilson and Spencer Stokes of Springfield, another TVR founding member who goes by the nickname “Marsho,” are painting a mural on the side of Clay’s Popeye’s Barbeque, 1121 South Grand Avenue East. The mural fittingly features the cartoon character Popeye, his arch-nemesis Bluto and other characters from the cartoon strip.  The completed mural will feature the slogan of the Springfield-based genHkids Coalition, “Eat real. Move more.” and the currently vacant lot it overlooks will become a community garden providing fresh vegetables for the restaurant.

You can check out the full article right here. We plan on updating you again when the Southtown mural is completed or when we have more news on the community garden.
