Tonight at Black Sheep: Hobgob 2013

hobslobLadies and gentleman, ghouls and its, tonight is the night! Hobgob 2013 is here to take us away to eerie and faraway lands. Prepare to experience a show that will leave you spookified for weeks, my friends. It’s gonna be great!

The founders of the fest will be playing this evening, and they are NIL8. These are the hooligans that rounded up this fest way back in the day, and it’s still going strong! Their heavy punk music is rad and they’re sure to bring us a good show as always! Accompanying them this evening, we also have Soap Scum! These ghostly street rats are sure to fill the whole place with grime, trash and dirty punk tunes, so prepare to SLAM. Check it out, we’re also going to be featuring Looming this year! Their upbeat, heartwarming jams are going to balance everything perfectly so get ready to hop and stomp to their awesome new songs. To darken things up again, we’ll have Execution Techniques give us some crafty, spine-chilling harsh noise that’ll make your hair stand straight up. After that, we’ll be encouraged to find our inner ghoul as we hear from the fun punk band Orange Soda from Champaign. Featuring members of Dino Bravo and Kowabunga! Kid, they’re sure to play songs that’ll make you wiggle and shake till your bones wanna break. It’s uncanny how great this show is going to be! Check out the facebook event to see any other gory details you may desire to know.

There’s going to be a free clothing drive at Hobgob this year so bring all of your winter apparel and accessories that you don’t want anymore and let others enjoy them! Try to put some extra change in the donation jar if you can (all proceeds go to Blacksheep).

Costumes are encouraged but optional! Bring $5 and come to Black Sheep at 7:00 pm to kick it and slam out to the sounds of Hobgob 2013.

Calling For Show Photos!

tumblr_mv58dxu18Q1s2rlhfo1_500

Hey there all you showgoers! Do you find yourselves snapping pics on your phones whilst experiencing a good show at the Sheep? That’s great. You should keep doing that, because we want to see them too! If you share those priceless snippets of time on the internet, you will grant people the gift of sight and that’s rad. People will get to see what kinds of things happen at Sheep shows, whether it’s a shot of a band performing, a moshpit caught in mid-motion or some mad face making (or all three put together). Why not share those things with all the people you listen to good music with?

All you need to do is post the pictures you take on the Black Sheep Facebook group or email us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com. It’d be greatly appreciated! You can also post pictures on event pages. Try to tag people and bands if you can help it!
Check out our super swell Black Sheep Photo archive to see all the people who have contributed to this noble cause thusfar, and come to Hobgob 2013 tomorrow! It’ll be the best, spookiest place to get started.

Updates on South Town Murals

Some progress is being made on the South Town mural on the side of Clay’s Popeye’s Barbecue facing East. We told you about the mural a few weeks ago and since then The Illinois Times has done a nice article on graffiti in Springfield which also mentions the mural. Today we are bringing you a few new pictures showing the progress of the mural (top) and also some other art that has popped up inside South Town recently (bottom). Check out both of those photos below.

Roundtable meeting Wednesday (10/23)

photo-3

This week we are taking our roundtable meetings a step out of the usual Saturday afternoons that we have been doing. This week we will be meeting on Wednesday (October 23rd) at 7:00 pm. We are mixing up the meeting time this week because there are some big things that have been bubbling around in the behind the scenes at Black Sheep. Come out to the meeting so that we can tell you what’s been happening and you can offer us some input!

The meeting is at 7:00 pm Wednesday at Black Sheep. Anyone and everyone is welcomed to come. If you can’t make it and would like to offer some help don’t worry! You can check our get involved page for when the next meeting will be and a list of other things you can do to help or volunteer.

“Scott Blacula is done. We are TABLE DRAMA”

tabledrama

Those of us that were at the show at Black Sheep last night were taken by surprise as The Pukester and his gang of villains stormed their way onto the stage for a whole new level of shenanigans. They appear to be a part of a new band that shares the same members as the recently disbanded Scott Blacula, but they are now calling themselves “Table Drama.” You can check out the video of what exactly went down last night below.

The people you knew as Scott Blacula have evolved into a new beast. A whole new level of terror that none of you could ever understand or comprehend. Ladies and gentlemen… you know who we are but you don’t know why we are here. We have a mission to accomplish. This shithole needs to go up in flames.

Scott Blacula is done. We are TABLE DRAMA.

There you have it folks. Scott Blacula has evolved into Table Drama and The Pukester is back.

Records and the release for the new cassette is scheduled for November 15th. From Our Lady’s website:

Hello friends! We are really excited to say that the reason we have been recording is that we will be doing a very “special”, limited run cassette re-release of our E.P. “Dawning” through It’s a Trap! Records ! The reason we say “special” is the entire E.P. has been revised, re-recorded, remastered and it will also come with all new artwork as well as two new songs! Check out the artwork and also Its a Trap! and all of their awesome releases.
