Videos: Negative 17 at Black Sheep

Screen shot 2014-02-11 at 9.55.36 PMBetween yesterday’s video of Kharbdis’s first set and today, we are coming at you with double back-to-back video footage of bands performing at Black Sheep! Today’s video is of young pop-punk band Negative 17. This video comes from the band’s set at one of our most recent shows on Friday, February 7th. The band pulled off an incredibly high-energy set accompanied with a fancy light show, a couple of covers, and the smashing of a guitar on our stage at the very end. The video comes in two parts. You can find part one below, and part two to the video right here. Don’t forget to also check out our vids/pics page where you can find a large collections of videos and pictures taken throughout the years at Black Sheep.

Today we are bringing you a video from a brand new Springfield band called Kharybdis. Kharybdis played their first show ever at Black Sheep on February 1st. They describe themselves as a progressive metalcore band and have a few other shows lined up at Black Sheep in March, which you can see the dates for right here. One of these includes a show that has been already announced for March 29th with Beresith, The Lion’s Daughter, The Gorge, and Orator. You can check out the video of Kharybdis performing at Black Sheep below. You can also find more photos and videos of Black Sheep and Springfield shows on our vids/pics page.

New Band Pages: Rella

meIt’s not Monday, but today we are bringing you a brand new band page for a new Springfield acoustic act. That act is Rella, the new solo project of Clare Frachey. Rella played at our acoustic show this past weekend, which was held inside of Dumb Records. Clare is also involved in a new band called JAG which will be playing their first show on Friday, March 7th at Black Sheep. You can check out the new page for Rella right here, where you can find out more about the project.

Check out any of our 70 Springfield current band pages right here on our current bands page. Do you play in a Springfield band that has yet to set up a page with us? We would love to hear from you! Shoot us an email at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we will work with you to set something up.

150193_373515422691343_1273565882_nAre you ready for the most metal show to happen at Black Sheep this year? On Saturday, March 29th we will have more metal than you can possibly handle. We have the band Beresith (pictured above) coming from Indiana. They play a blackened type of death metal that will melt the insides of your eyelids and you can catch a sneak peak of that on the youtube player embedded below. Another out of town band on this show is The Gorge from St. Louis. They will be coming with another sludgy metal band also from St. Louis called The Lion’s Daughter. This show will also feature the second Black Sheep performance by brand new Springfield metal band, Kharybdis! To top that all off we have Champaign black metal band Orator coming to Black Sheep, right after they have battled  Table Drama earlier this month.

Unless anything changes, this show will start at 7:00 pm and admission will be $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Don’t forget to also check out our shows page for a good look at everything coming to Black Sheep this year.

There will also be some sort of a pot luck and clothing drive at Black Sheep so even more reason to go. As far as acoustic performances, we have Jess Knight of Asthma and Looming doing a solo set. There will also be a performance by Dustin Sendejas formerly of The Transatlantic. We also have the second Black Sheep performance by Rella, the new solo project of Clare Freaky. And make sure to come out early to catch a brand new project called “Honey/Suck” featuring Aubrey Puyear.

The show tonight is at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Don’t forget that Dumb Records will also be open until 9:00 pm tonight. There is a facebook event for the show right here. Don’t forget to check out our shows page for a look at everything coming up at Black Sheep!
