August 17th at Black Sheep: Table Drama, Falter, Reduced To Instinct, King Worm

Ready for another cool show at Black Sheep? Today we are bringing you news of one happening on Sunday, August 17th. That’s right, this one will be happening the day after our big Band Lotto show where there will be new bands bursting out the seams of South Town. This show will feature the nasty and evil villains known as Table Drama. The touring band on this gig is Falter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Falter last played at Black Sheep at the very first show of 2014 back in January. You can find some of their music streaming below. Also on this show is new Bloomington/Normal punk band called Reduced To Instinct. Then as if this show wasn’t slimy enough for you already we have King Worm opening things up.

Videos: Wilt Candy at Dumb Records + Black Sheep

There have been a lot of great videos of Springfield bands performing lately, so we are going to keep the good video ball rolling today by brining you two newer videos of Springfield’s newest folk duo, Wilt Candy performing at Black Sheep and Dumb Records. The first video is of a performance at Black Sheep last month at a show where Two Knights and Our Lady also played. The second is of the band performing live at Dumb Records earlier in June. You can check out both videos below.

Wilt Candy will be performing next at Black Sheep a week from today on Saturday, July 19th along with Jess Knight, Foreign Lawns, Akaname, and Ego & The Ids. They will also e performing as part of Black Sheep Fest 2014 happening on Saturday, July 26th. There are more bands than ever playing Black Sheep Fest this year, and you can check out the full lineup on our Black Sheep Fest page.

Tonight at Black Sheep: BLACK SHEEP BATTLE OF THE BANDS 2014

battleofthebands2014This is it! Wow, Battle of the Bands 2014 is upon us folks, and there is going to be so much talent tonight at Black Sheep. Check out all the local acts! We’ll have the pleasure of hearing the viral drool punkers in Panzys, the snazzy jammers in Blind Social, some new and unheard tunes from the band The Locals, the rad punksters in Schnozzberry Jam and the brutal tones of Desecrate the Kingdom. Set times are as follows:

Panzys: 9:30-9:55
Blind Social: 8:55-9:20
The Locals: 8:20-8:45
Schnozzberry Jam: 7:45-8:10
Desecrate The Kingdom: 7:10-7:35

Will there be prizes for the winning bands? Oh yes, there will be indeed! One crowd-voted winner will receive one time slot on BLACK SHEEP FEST 2014 happening July 26th! That will definitely be a cool honor to recieve. Also, one winner voted by a panel of trusted judges will receive a free demo recorded at South Town Studio! Check out our good looking panel of judges pictured below. South Town Studio pumps out some GREAT local music, so whoever wins it will be very lucky! The door is only $5, and the show is at 7:00 pm! Come out to hear the bands and see who wins, your time will be well worth it. Bring your friends!

Today on Black Sheep Radio: Mikey Hash

Our hip-hop streak continues this week on The Black Sheep Radio Show as local rap artist Mikey Hash will be joining us for episode #79 on our show. Mikey will be performing at Black Sheep tonight as part of the “Have You Seen Mikey” show happening tonight at 7:00 pm. We will be talking to Mr. Hash about the show tonight, and also playing a few of his songs on air. We might also be joined by a couple of surprise judges for the Black Sheep Battle of the Bands happening tomorrow.

The Black Sheep Radio Show airs today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm. You can also stream the show live online at wqna.org. Also be sure to check out our radio page for a long list of downloadable episodes from the past.

Tonight at Black Sheep: “Have You Seen Mikey?” Show

mikeyhashregHip-hop and rap have been going strong in South Town this summer, and tonight at Black Sheep we have another hip-hop show that will blow your mind. Tonight it’s the “Have You Seen Mikey” show featuring the one and only local rap artist Mikey Hash. Mikey will also be in on the Black Sheep Radio Show today from 4:00 – 6:00 pm to talk about the show so tune in to 88.3 WQNA fm to hear that. Also on this show is the candy-giving hero D.B. Cooper who runs the “Coosh*t” clothing line. Then we will be joined again by the hip hop duo, Co-Pilots. Then we have a very special guest and that is Habilis Riccardo. Check out a preview of things to come tonight streaming below.

Hey all you Black-Sheep goers, it’s time to mark your calendar! We’ll be having an insanely trill show this Friday (yes, that’s 2 days from now), featuring Hip-hop warriors: Mikey Hash and D.B. Cooper, as well as Co-Pilots, and Habilis Riccardo. I can’t say the same for everybody, but if you’re like me, and you like your beats fresh, and your lyrics as real as they get, then hurry down! I promise you that your ears will thank you later for blowing them out to this group of talented young lads. Hell, join the event page on facebook, and invite your friends if you want to.

Be sure to come out this Friday @ 7PM (NO exceptions on lateness!), as it will be $5 at the door. SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS! Dan Potthast from MU330 came to Harm House recently and played a kick ass show!!! Insomniac Folklore and Kat Jones from Oregon were also in town. Dustin Sendejas got things started and we had an awesome cookout. Were you there? Do you wish you had been?

Tonight at DUMB RECORDS: Like… With Jetpacks / Adam Balbo (CA) / Austin Connelly / Borealis

Make sure to support the touring act, as it will be some great pop-punk-folk! Also playing tonight are Austin Connelly and Borealis, two other great musicians! Again, this show is happening inside of Dumb Records (located at 1107 South Grand East). The store opens at 6:00 pm and the show will kick off at 7:00 pm with $5 admission. Display Case is a touring band from Des Moines Iowa, and is sure to be great. Make sure to come support them and check out their tunes at the bottom of this post! The Oswalds and Panzys are both two super cool bands from Springfield to make the show super snazzy, so their tunes will add the perfect flair. Don’t miss it, this show will be sizzlin.
