September 26th at Black Sheep: Big 6, Habilis Riccardo, #2LiveNation, DB Cooper, Mikey Hash

bigsdancnde

Looks like another great hip-hop show is being lined up before this month is over. That’s right, this one is on Friday, September 26th and features a lot of great hip-hop and rap artists that we have had play at Black Sheep in the past. This is also some sort of a birthday show for Dancin’ Dave, so that probably means that we will all be dancin’! On this show we have Victor Bacon, who also goes by the name Big 6. Then we have Habilis Riccardo, who has played at Black Sheep before. Other Black Sheep veteran performers include D.B. Cooper and Mikey Hash. Topping it off we have a performance by an act going by the name “#2LiveNation.” You can probably expect some sort of giveaways, food, and more at this show.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at everything else coming up at Black Sheep.

punkrockcookoutput2

Food, food, and more food. That’s what’s going on tonight at Black Sheep for our second annual punk rock cookout, and this time we are having all of you eat all of that food. We have told that there will be hotdogs and veggie-dogs for everyone, greens, maybe even some pasta? Black Sheep is cleaned up and ready to go with a new piano and all for this great event happening tonight. Bands playing the cookout include The Timmys, who recently released a brand new EP which you can stream on the player below. We also have the band Minor Decline coming from Galesburg, IL. Then we have Springfield ska-favorites, Bad Banshee. Also don’t miss Say Something– a great punk rock band for a great punk rock cookout.

The cookout tonight starts at 6:00 pm outside of Black Sheep and bands will begin at 7:00 pm. Admission is just $5 for a bunch of bands and a bunch of food (to eat). You can find a facebook event for tonight’s show right here. Also check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this fall.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Lumpy & The Dumpers, Mongoloid, Mouthsex, King Worm, Panzys

lumpy9-5lier

Tonight should be a pretty great night here at Black Sheep and Dumb headquarters. There is this great show happening featuring heavy-hitting St. Louis slime punk band, Lumpy & The Dumpers. They will be playing in Springfield for the first time since the first Dumb Fest back in June of 2013. Check out some of their tunes below. On tour with Lumpy & The Dumpers this time around is a band called Mongoloid from Portland, Oregon. Then there is a great lineup of local punk bands. This includes dirty punk band Mouthsex. This also includes five-piece punk hardcore band King Worm. And to top things off we have young punks Panzys opening things up. Sounds like a good lineup. On top of all of that this will be the very first show inside Black Sheep where we will have a real upright piano for all of you to play (wow)! Check that out pictured below.

Some Things Can’t Be Ignored: Kick To Tha Head

hpqscan0001

It looks like Springfield historical music blog Some Things Can’t Be Ignored is dipping into Springfield music from the Black Sheep Era (beginning 2005-2006). The blog recently featured a 2006 demo from Springfield hardcore band Kick To Tha Head, which featured Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford on vocals. From Some Things Can’t Be Ignored:

Yes, another short lived Springfield band, but Kick To Tha Head didn’t leave without leaving their footprint on our local scene and inspiring many others to get busy assembling their own bands and getting their messages across through music.  That momentum has continued to flourish in our scene here in Springfield, and without folks like Kevin, Roger and many others, we wouldn’t have the thriving scene that we have today.

You can check out the full post right here, where you can also download the full 2006 demo.

The Timmys: “Dude, Girl” EP

10602648_10203755271516393_1913335874_nIt looks like popular punk website Punknews.org is streaming the brand new EP from Springfield’s very own punk rock band, The Timmys. The new EP is called Dude Girl, and we brought you news of one of those songs earlier in the month. Now you can head over to The Timmys’ Punknews.org page right here and stream all of the four-song EP.

Go stream the new EP!

The Timmys will be playing in town next at The Black Sheep as part of our second annual Punk Rock Cookout this upcoming Saturday, September 6th. Also on the bill for that show is Minor Decline, Say Something, and Bad Banshee. In other news The Timmys have also relaunched and revamped their very own website, thetimmys.com! You can check that out and keep updated on the band’s music and upcoming shows right here.
