Welcome to a brand new week! Happy Monday everyone! Today we bring you news this past weekend we brought home a *virtual* award for our store’s award shelf. We are thrilled to accept Downtown Springfield Inc‘s award for “most creative promotion” for our Downtown Pinball Tournament which was held earlier this past fall. We had a whole lot of fun setting up the pinball tournament, and we can’t wait to do it again later on this year.
The Downtown Springfield Inc. awards ceremony was held virtually this year. You can check out what other local businesses and people won other awards on the DSI facebook page right here.
Once again congratulations to Prairie Archives for being the official winners for our Downtown Springfield Pinball Tournament for 2020. Who will be the winner for this year?

Oops, we almost forgot to mention! It’s that special time of the year again. It’s happening a little bit later into January than usual, but it’s the time of the year when we release our poll results for our annual Best of Local Music poll, and we team up with Activator Magazine for their January issue featuring all of the results.
We will be posting some of the results to our polls online here in the coming days. For now though, we are letting you know that we have a few copies available of the new Activator for free in our store! You can also pick them up at different locations around town. And thank you to everyone who helped us in contributing write-ups for this issue!

Well, well, well, did you know that today just so happens to be our birthday? That’s right, seven years ago (January 11th, 2014) was the grand open for our store’s original location at 1107 South Grand Ave, next to The Black Sheep. So now we are officially 7 years old and entering our eighth year.
We are not looking to have a huge celebration this year of course, but we are deciding to move forward in re-opening our store (just a bitty bit more) today by switching the *open* sign to “on” from 12-5pm every day now.
Here’s the low-down for now: – The store is open 12-5pm every day. – Limit to 8 customers in the store at a time. – Masks required (duh), we also have hand sanitizer as you enter. – The arcade is still closed for now. We are not doing reservations on that for now either, maybe soon. – We are still open to store appointments happening before noon or after 5pm! Just call, email or message us ahead of time. – We are still offering shipping, delivery, or store pick-up options on shopdumbrecords.com!
That’s it for now! Check out our Black Sheep History Page if you want to get teary-eyed and think back on all of the fun times we’ve had together over the years.

Welcome back to another week! Hopefully everybody had some good holidays. We sure did. Our store is still appointment-only this week. Some exciting news we have today is that Dumb Records was just recently nominated in two different award categories for Downtown Springfield Inc.‘s “Best of Downtown 2020″ annual awards. (We didn’t win anything just yet)! The picture above is from last year’s award ceremony, where we won the category of ” Innovative Business Concept.”
You can check out the list of nominees on the DSI website right here. We have been nominated in categories of “Best Retail” and also “Most Creative Promotion” with our downtown pinball tournament. This year’s ceremony is virtual due to COVID-19, and tickets can be found for the virtual ceremony on that same link. The virtual ceremony is being called “DSI & Chill” and is happening Thursday, January 21st.
Happy Christmas! Did you think we were going to stop on our streak of reporting local music news for Christmas? No! No thank you! Today we are bringing you a brand new music video that was recently released by Jacksonville-based psychedelic group The Dixie Narcos. That is a video for the song “Open The Mouth I Met” which is a track off of the band’s Godin Drag EP that was released just earlier this month. The video is an animation done by Robin Barnes and you can check it out on the player embedded below.
Check out more local music videos from over the years on our vids/pics page.
