Today on Black Sheep Radio: Black Sheep 10-Year Anniversary Edition Part 2

jeffbrian

On this week’s episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show, we are continuing our special Black Sheep 10-Year Anniversary edition with another episode focusing on Black Sheep hitting 10 years as a venue. Last week we had original Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford in for a long discussion, and this week we have Brian Galecki and Jeff Brown in. Jeff Brown is bringing his big garbage bag of Black Sheep fliers from the past for us to talk about and look at. We’ll also be playing plenty of music from years past and more recent times.

The Black Sheep Radio Show airs from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm. You can also stream it online during the same time at wqna.org. Download and listen to last week’s episode as well as a handful of few others on our radio show page.

If you were not around for the Black Sheep 10 Year Anniversary Show last Friday, you probably missed us drawing names out of the band lotto box for this year’s Black Sheep Band Lotto show happening on November 21st. For those of you unfamiliar with what band lotto is- anybody who is willing puts their name into a box to be drawn in groups of 4s and 5s at random to perform one show as a band together. This year we had a total of 42 people put their names in the box, which resulted in 10 bands (some with 4 people, some with 5). You can check out that full list of names and bands above.

The band lotto show again is happening on Saturday, November 21st at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5 to see some very interesting bands play one-off shows. Check out a facebook event for this year’s band lotto right here.

nicoffeine_final

As we venture into our second decade as an all ages venue in Springfield, we have our first band coming from across seas since Black Sheep hit the ten year mark. This show is happening on Saturday, October 10th, and it is going to be an earlier show starting at 5:00 pm. For this show we have a triumphant return of the alternative/indie band Mystery Gift which might be coming back with a new and improved lineup. Then the international band playing is “Nicoffeine” coming all the way from Germany. They play a type of experimental/instrumental noise rock that you can check out streaming below! On tour with Nicoffeine is the band “Complainer” from St. Louis, which features the same members of previous band Spelling Bee. Opening things up will be a performance by the extreme noisecore act Gutterpriest.

Again, this show will be starting at 5:00 pm, and we will be asking for $5 at the door. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up at Black Sheep this fall.
