Tonight at Black Sheep: Roots Like Mountains, Noesis, Set Fire To Salem,Vacant Skies, Through Burning Eyes

It’s a Monday night but there is a metal show happening at Black Sheep! This show will feature the touring spoken word/indie act Roots Like Mountains coming all the way from Colorado Springs, Colorado. You can check out some of their music streaming below. Also on this show is Carlinville/Central Illinois-based metal band Noesis who are no strangers to Black Sheep. Before them is the newer Springfield metal band Set Fire To Salem. We also have the three-piece metalcore band Vacant Skies. Then it looks like things are going to kick off with “Through Burning Eyes“- a newer metalcore band from Alton, Illinois.

January 30th at Black Sheep: “Winter Wreck”

Get ready to wreck pretty hard, because on Saturday, January 30th we have a big ol’ “Winter Wreck” coming to Black Sheep? What is this about? It’s pretty much just a bigger show with a few more bands than normal being put together by Grow The Scene– a booking company based out of Chicago. This show will feature seven whole bands, all from the area. These include:

Streetlight Silverado
Sammy and The Punk
Wanna
Flamingo
Thirteen Crows
Fill in the Blank
Vacant Skies

Looks like a fun wreck! Bands this time around will start at 5:30 pm. The show is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, hunt down one of the bands playing the show. Tonight at Black Sheep: Wir Können, Farseek, Moondead, Paqui

It may be a really cold Sunday, but the weekend starts tonight here at Black Sheep! We have a show tonight and tomorrow night so get ready. Tonight will be the return-from-tour show for local emo rockers Wir Können, who just made it out to the east coast and back. They were out on the road with touring solo act Farseek from Ohio, who’s music you can find streaming below. There have also been some slight adjustments to this show since it was first announced, we now have Paqui playing instead of The Suction Cups. Then we also have the first ever show for a new Springfield band called Moondead whose first song we had featured on our site yesterday.

Moondead: “Moon”

Today we are bringing you a recording of a song by a brand new Springfield band called Moondead. The band will be playing their first ever show tomorrow night at Black Sheep along with Wir Können, Double God, Farseek, and Paqui. More information on that show can be found on a facebook event right here. Moondead’s debut single is called “Moon” and you can find it streaming below. Also head over to the band’s bandcamp page to download the song at your own price. We have been told the band features members of bands Bad Banshee, Garter, and Wilt Candy.

The Studio Show Episode 2 Featuring Clare Frachey

The new Springfield-based television show that we can’t get enough of, called The Studio Show has released their second ever episode which features Clare Frachey as the guest artist. You might recognize Clare as the singer/guitar player of local band SAP. The new episode of The Studio show is about 30 minutes long, and in addition to Clare it also features different clips, and also a studio performance by the band Deep Hollow from Springfield.

Dumb Records Record Player Raffle

It looks like Southtown record store Dumb Records is looking to give away a brand new record player (pictured above) for their two-year anniversary coming up later this month. How nice! The store will be holding a raffle for the player, and the winners will be drawn at the two-year anniversary show at Black Sheep on the 16th. Raffle tickets are only $2, which can be purchased inside of Dumb Records from now up until the time names are drawn before the last band at the show. In addition to the record player, there will also be a 2nd place prize of a $20 Dumb gift certificate, a 3rd place prize of a Dumb Records t-shirt, and a 4th place prize of a Dumb Records mug. You have to be present at the drawing in order to claim the prize if your number is drawn.

The Dumb Records tw0-year anniversary show is happening at Black Sheep a week from Saturday on January 16th. The store will also be having 15% off all items all day long for the day. More info on that can be found right here.

Get ready for a killer show happening tonight at Black Sheep! Tonight we have the hardcore band from Lawton Oklahoma called Valleys. Check out a newer demo of theirs streaming below. Also on this show is heavy-hitting Springfield hardcore band GUSH. “100% in the red” as recently described by a reviewer for Maximum Rocknroll magazine. Also on this show is the post-melodic type hardcore band Drained from Peoria and Central Illinois. Opening the show up will be the continuing band lotto round 2 band, Rows of Teeth.

New Band Pages: TANG

With 2016 comes a new wave of bands in the new year, and today we are bringing you a new band page for a newer Springfield project called TANG. TANG (which is an acronym for The Avant National Guard) actually was the first ever performance at Black Sheep this year (pictured above). You can check out their new page right here, where you can find out more about the band. TANG does not currently have any Black Sheep shows lined up, but keep and eye and ear out for more!
