We have a full lineup of shows this upcoming weekend and we are now ready to start telling you all about them! That starts with a show coming up this Friday – on Friday, June 22nd (in just two days). This one is going to be the official tour kickoff for Springfield group Bottom Bracket, who are hitting the road hard and going all the way to the east coast at the end of this month / beginning of July. We’ll come back to you with B.B.’s big tour dates in another post. This show features plenty of friends of the band- including the Alton, Illinois band Reaver. Stream some of Reaver’s newest music on the player embedded below. We also have the Taylorville alternative rock band we have not seen in a minute on the bill – Stick People. How nice! At the beginning of the lineup we have Oversleeping from the St. Louis area. And also a solo performance by Hannah Songer as “HECK“.

All of that starts this Friday at 7:00 pm. Admission for this show is $6. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Surprise! There is another show happening at Black Sheep tonight! What do you know but somehow it looks like we are in the middle of a 5 shows in 7 days streak. (We are getting our shows page updated ASAP so you can see what the rest of those shows are). Tonight we have the return of Chicago emo band Lume. If you do not know what they are about, check out their music on the player below. Aside from Lume, the lineup tonight is very stacked. Springfield solo ambient project Pretend I’m Not There also performs for the first time since a special release show at The Dana Thomas House. Another touring act – “Reverend” from Detroit, Michigan is on the bill. Before that is Staghorn, who is now based out of Champaign. Opening things up is Glower from right here in Springfield.

All of that tonight starts promptly at 7:00 pm at Black Sheep, and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Stream some of their music on the player below. Aside from the band Goodland we also have local heroes- The Telephone Junkies. The Telephone Junkies played Dumb Fest and were interviewed by the State Journal-Register beforehand. Our Peoria friends in Sadface Killer are also performing tonight. Then kicking things off is the alternative rock band Prevalence from Champaign, Illinois.

This all kicks off at 7:00 pm tonight, and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep (we are working on it).

Today we are bringing you all of those sweet sweet photos from Dumb Fest #6 this past weekend. All of the photos in this batch were taken by Veronica Mullen (who also performed in two bands this past weekend – Ghoul Jr. and Power of Dusk). Veronica shot photos of most of day 2 of the fest (Saturday) at Black Sheep and Skank Skates, also the aftershow at Ms. D’s Kitchen, and at The Old State Capitol the next day.

Find all of Veronica’s photos from Dumb Fest 6 right here on facebook or right here on flickr.

We also know that new Springfield underground music magazine – Activator took a good amount of photos as well, which you can surely find more of in the upcoming second issue of their magazine.

Check out our vids/pics page for a list of more photo albums from past festivals taken over the years at Black Sheep including all of the Dumb Fests.

Today at Old State Capitol Steps + Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s: Dumb Fest 6 Day 3

DumbFest_6POSTER_WEB

Here we are at the final day of Dumb Fest 6. Today we are mixing things up and not having any shows at our usual spots of Black Sheep or Skank Skates. Instead we have two shows happening – one on the steps of the Old Illinois State Capitol downtown.

The Illinois Old State Capitol starts right at 12:30 pm with the band Bottom Bracket. Bands will be set up on to the North of the building. The show is also free! Other bands playing include Pleather, MOM, Nectar, and Ghoul Jr.

The second show is at the one and only Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s in the whole world, and is the third time we’ve gotten a chance to set up a show at their bandstand outside. Of course legendary Springfield band NIL8 will be closing out the evening there, and that show will start at 4:30 pm and likely go until 8:00 pm. Admission for that is also free. Other than NIL8 the lineup includes Special Interest from New Orleans, Spodee Boy from Nashville, Tennessee, and Pineapple RNR fron St. Louis.

Check out a facebook event for Dumb Fest 6 right here.

Today / Tonight at Black Sheep, Skank Skates, and Ms. D’s Kitchen: Dumb Fest 6 Day 2

DumbFest_6POSTER_WEB

Here we are right in the middle of Dumb Fest #6! We had a wildly successful first day last night, thanks to all of you who came out! Today kicks off right at 12:30 pm and goes nonstop all night long until the end of the aftershow at Ms. D’s Kitchen (just two blocks down from Black Sheep) at 1:00 am. Today will be packed to the brim with music, food, friendship, and smiles.

We don’t really have time to type out the schedule again for today, but go check out our full Dumb Fest schedule post for a closer look.

Admission today is $25 (for 25 bands), and $5 for the aftershow at Ms. D’s Ktichen. The address to Ms. D’s Kitchen is 1031 South 11th Street. All shows are all ages. If you don’t have the money, come out anyways. We will likely be going down on the door price throughout the day as well. Find a facebook event for Dumb Fest 6 right here.
