We better get back to the local music news sometime around here. This band isn’t even local anymore, they moved to Chicago. But they are still in our hearts. 3-piece “sparkle-math-noodle-punk” band Bottom Bracket have dropped a new 5-track EP entitled A Figure In Armor out on Rat King Records. You can stream that new EP on the bandcamp player below! Also head on over to Bottom Bracket’s bandcamp page to purchase the download of the album. We will have copies available on CD at Dumb Records here in the coming days.
Good morning and happy Sunday! We never really made the official announcement on our site here that shows at Dumb Records are BACK, for the first time in 2022, the case numbers for covid-19 in our area have gone back down and we are ready to rock and roll once again. We don’t really have anything else announced other than this show happening tonight right now.
So tonight – we have a killer lineup of acts performing at our space. Bottom Bracket makes their Springfield return for the first time since moving to Chicago, (did you know they moved to Chicago?) (they had some lineup changes and moved to Chicago at some point during all of this), they also just put out a new EP! Stream it on the player below. Also up on deck (and probably playing last in the lineup) is heavy hitting pop punk band Attic Salt. Here is a secret: their latest album Get Wise is up in the Dumb Records charts the most popular album we sell next to Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. In the middle of the lineup is the indie alternative band The Telephone Junkies, they are from all over the place nowadays. Opening things up is Marble Teeth from Decatur.
Nice. You can check out a facebook event for this show right here. Oh yeah, it starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $10. We still have rules in place for shows regarding the pandemic. Either proof of vaccine (any shot) OR proof of negative covid test within 72 hours is required upon door entry, and masks are required at all times during the show. Thanks and see you all tonight!
Happy Tuesday! We are really starting to beef our shelves back up over here, after things were starting to slim down after the holiday season and our big anniversary sales. Here we go trying to keep up with anything local music related in the year 2022… good luck to us! We all already know that Mark Schwartz is going to crank out at least 20 albums this year under various project titles, here is the first of them for this year. This one is a new project called “Petulant Clark” featuring Mark Schwartz and Scott Faingold of Epsom. A brand new project and would you look at that, they already have a 43-track long greatest hits album. Stream that on the player below or head over to the Petulant Clark bandcamp page and stream or download the release.
We’ll see how keeping up with our Springfield album archive page for the year 2022 goes… for now we’re starting off with this release and we’ll see how much on top of it we will be! Good luck to us all!

That’s a lot to unpack right there. That’s definitely hours upon hours of gaming ahead of us right now. The underground Springfield pinball forum is more alive and well than ever, and discussion on these games has already begun. The other great thing about all of these games is that it does save high scores on everything!! Most high scores on these games are easy to get right now, so come on down! The Dumb Records arcade is open everyday along with the store from 10am-7pm. Entry is $5 or free with purchase of $10 or more, and from there all of our games are set to free-play. Be on the lookout for a new arcade contest to be announced soon.

Good morning on this cold, cold, day! Since we are so cold we might as well launch a sale to heat things up around here. And we’ll make it last a few days so you don’t have to come out today when it’s zero degrees out. We were going to have a couple of Dumb Records 8 Year Anniversary shows around this time, but another wave of covid hit harder than ever and we had to cancel our shows once again. So we are just going to move forward with a Dumb Records sale, happening January 7th-12th! Here’s what we got going on!
– 10% OFF ALL NEW VINYL!! – 20% OFF ALL turntables!! – 30% OFF all USED vinyl!! – 40% OFF ALL CDs!! – 50% OFF arcade entry!! – 60% OFF all dollar records!!
Have any questions? No, those sales are not good for online, just in our store. Oh yeah, we have new t-shirts printed. There isn’t a sale on those.
