Today we are bringing you a video of the Springfield rockabilly/punk band Los Injectors performing at Black Sheep a couple of weekends ago. The show was the release show for Mary & The Immaculate Rejections and SAP and took place on November 14th. Check out a live video of one of Los Injector’s songs below.

Today we have a very special episode of The Black Sheep Radio Show. Black Friday Record Store Day at Dumb Records is already underway and there are probably a lot of exclusives taken off the shelves by now, but the radio crew Mike & Brandon got the chance to take a peak at some of those records and play some songs off of them for the radio. They will also be playing plenty of new Springfield music today and plenty of music of bands that will be playing at Black Sheep this weekend and in the near future!

There sure is a lot going on in Southtown today. In fact, some of it has already begun! That’s right, today is Black Friday and the madness kicked off at Dumb Records (1107 South Grand East Ave.) earlier this morning at 8:00 am. Be sure to rush over to the store now if you are a record collector because the store has plenty of exclusive releases and sales going on right now until 9:00 pm tonight. Check out the full list of exclusive titles the store is carrying today here on the Black Friday facebook event. There is also 15% off of all non-RSD titles and other give-aways.
The show tonight at Black Sheep will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. For that show we have the local pop punk band Fill In The Blank. We also have The Incorporated, who last played at Black Sheep for the big Hobgob Halloween show. Up before them is Super Famicom, a touring solo act now based out of Bloomington, Indiana and originally from here in Central Illinois. Before that is a newer industrial solo project from here in town abvreviated A.S. You can find some of that streaming on the player below. Kicking things off is the noisey drone/ambient project of B.J. Pearce called “Pretend I’m Not There.”

We have a show coming up at the Black Sheep on Saturday, December 5th which will feature a new collective of hip hop artists that have not yet performed in Southtown. There is a lot going on in this town as far as hip hop goes and we are thankful we have gotten the chance to work with more and more of these artists in the past few years. This show will feature Sherman-based artist The MB, which is short for “Mama’s Boy”. Also on this show is Brandon Austin. The “opener” for the show is Roddrick Lemar- but there is a long list of special guests that we will also see perform. This includes DJ for the night, DJ Mayday. Other guest artists include Ashley Whitehouse, David Gottschalk of the band Set Fire to Salem, and Garth Whitehead.

Tonight we continue with last minute shows in Southtown, with this last minute acoustic show happening in South Town Studio! The studio is putting together a last minute show for a touring musician from the United Kingdom, “Holy Pinto.” Check out some of Holy Pinto’s music below. Also playing this show are a few local acoustic acts. We have Jessica Knight of Looming doing an acoustic set. Brandon Carnes of Looming and South Town Studio will also be performing. Then opening things up we have Peter Scott doing an acoustic cover set of Saves The Day songs.

Last night’s band lotto show was a heck of a lot of fun! There were plenty of surprises and many smiles to be shared. Tonight we are going to be back at Black Sheep for a last minute metal show. For this show we have the Los Angeles-based metal band on tour called Mothersound. Check out one of the band’s music videos right here. Also on this show is the Springfield metal band Set Fire To Salem. Opening things up we have the three-piece metal project called Vacant Skies, also from Springfield. And a last minute addition to the last minute show is Noesis from Central Illinois.

Get ready for a wild time tonight, because it’s our second ever Black Sheep Band Lotto! What is band lotto? A couple of months ago we had a box set up inside Dumb Records where anyone was welcome to put their name in. We drew names out of the box in groups of 4’s and 5’s and the groups were to get together with the task of forming a band to perform one show together! That one show is happening tonight and we are all in for a real treat! There were ten bands drawn this year- we will see how many of them perform. See the list of bands on the flier above. The December show announcements are starting to roll in hard! Today we have an announcement for a show happening on Saturday, December 12th. This one will feature the touring band Firestarter from Albany, New York (pictured above). You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. We also have another out of town band- Alone At Heart coming from Chicago. They play a type of melodic hardcore. Then we have two bands from the area on this show. We have Undeserving, who just released a few songs they recorded right next door at South Town Studio! Opening things up will be a performance by Lavender– the shoegaze band from the Springfield/St. Louis area.
