Thanks to everyone who came out and visited the pop-up shop Dumb Records had set up at the mall yesterday! We had a blast and a very successful day. You can check out some of their music streaming on the player below. We also have another out of town band- Alone At Heart coming from Chicago. They play a type of melodic hardcore. Then we have two bands from the area on this show. We have Undeserving, who just released a few songs they recorded right next door at South Town Studio! Opening things up will be a performance by Lavender– the shoegaze band from the Springfield/St. Louis area.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is a range of $5-7 whatever you feel is best! You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a more complete list of everything coming up in Southtown in the next few months.

tumblr_nz2n9ivCJB1sj9f9fo1_1280

Tonight there is nothing going on at Black Sheep, but we do have all sorts of holiday related things happening elsewhere around town. First off Dumb Records will be set up at White Oaks Mall all day today from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. The store will have a pop-up shop on the lower level of the mall right next to Santa himself (pictured above). If you find us and use the codeword “mynamekyle” you get 10% off your purchase! We’ve also made a last minute decision to have our regular location CLOSED today since most of our records are going to be at the mall.

Tonight there is also the Christmas Explosion at The Radon Lounge. There will be three acoustic acts performing. The first of which is Dan Smith who performs in the band Listener from Ohio. Also on the lineup is another solo act, Levi The Poet. Then kicking things off is Kris Rochelle from the band Red Sweater Lullaby, who also recently performed at Radon. In addition to music you can expect to find a potluck, various games, and coffee. The Christmas Explosion will begin at 6:30 pm and the show is $10. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. The Radon Lounge’s shows are all ages, and to find the address you have to inquire at radonlounge@gmail.com. Also check out a list of other Springfield shows outside of Black Sheep on our Springfield shows page.

Tonight’s a big one happening at Black Sheep! It’s going to be a pretty happening night in Springfield because there is also a pretty big show going on at Bar None tonight featuring The Queers. Tonight at Black Sheep we have the big California grind act “ACxDC” (standing for “Anti-Christ Demoncore”). You can stream some of their music on the player below. ACxDC is touring with Florida band Sunlight’s Bane, who will also be playing tonight. It looks like this show also has a few surprises, one of them being that the band of wrestling heels- Table Drama will be coming back from the dead for this show! Come find out if they are back for good or if this is just a one-off slammer. Before them is the Carbondale metal/sludge band Lowered A.D. Opening things up we have the hardcore band GUSH.

The show tonight will start right at 7:00 pm and admission is $8. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up this winter in Southtown.

Dumb Records At White Oaks Mall This Friday

12356166_10205604761620712_480812645_o

As wacky as it sounds, this Friday at Springfield’s White Oaks Mall on the west end of town Dumb Records will be “taking over.” By taking over we mean that the record store will have a pop-up kiosk or booth set up on the lower level with a few crates full of records to sell. As far as we know this is on the lower level of the mall, next to the carousel and Santa Claus himself (pictured on the flier above).

Dumb Records will be set up at the mall all day Friday, from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. The store will also remain open at our regular location here in Southtown from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Also if you find us at the mall, use the secret code word “mynamekyle” and we will give you 10% off your purchase!
