Tonight at Black Sheep: Violence Creeps, Livin’ Thing, Pryss

livincreepsfinalflier

Look at that terrible flier that is impossible to read. That is for a show happening tonight at Black Sheep that is going to end a streak of five shows in six days for us (wow). Tonight will be short and sweet with three blistering punk and hardcore bands that will make you feel alive. Most important we have the band Violence Creeps coming from Oakland, California. Stream some of their music on the player below. Up next we have the “Livin’ Thing Band” as featured in The Illinois Times last week. They will be kicking off their “Livin’ Tour” tonight with five days around the midwest, and will also have cassette tapes for the first time. Opening things up we have the mean and nasty new Springfield hardcore band called Pryss.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at other shows coming up in the next few months at Black Sheep.

How nice, we have a show coming up at Black Sheep on Saturday, May 7th being set up as a benefit show of sorts. The show is being set up by some friends as a benefit to help Luna with transitional funds, which more info can be found on this GoFundMe page. We have quite the lineup of local bands for this. First off we have Garter, who have not played a show since a couple of months back. Check out their music streaming on the player below. We also have the official Illinois State Capitol band- Shark Week. Before that we have the three-piece experimental punk band Moondead. And just in case you can’t get enough of those Suction Cups after they just played last night, they will also be playing this show, and it looks like Hannah Tolan of The Stuction Cups maybe doing a solo set as well?

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a complete list of all of the shows coming up at Black Sheep this spring and summer.

Screen Shot 2016-04-09 at 4.10.46 PM.png

We just can’t get enough of The Studio Show– the new TV show / web series that has sweeping all of Springfield art and music for the past few months. The show is already onto it’s eighth episode which debuted a little over one week ago. This episode features local artist Brett Freeman, who we have seen around Black Sheep and was responsible for one of the Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s fliers as well as plenty of other drawings you may have seen. The musical guest this week was Timothy Donavan Russell, who actually just played the “Ambient Blast” at Black Sheep last weekend. And of course pictured above you can catch a rare sighting of Austin Duffie of the band Milchjunge as another featured guest on the show.

Watch the new episode below, or head over to The Studio Show’s youtube page where you can find all past episodes.

Unfortunately the touring band (American Jobs) had to drop this show (sometimes stuff comes up, ya know?). In their place we have Mike Butler of The Locals performing a solo set. We also have a set by the wild and crazy T.A.N.G. (The Avant National Guard). Opening things up still is a solo set by Paqui.
