Night/Hex: “The Moment”

The Springfield War Magic-related ambient/electronic project known as Night/Hex have recently released another piece. The song is called “The Moment” and you can stream that below or also head over to the Night/Hex bandcamp where you can download the track for your own price.

Neither Night/Hex nor War Magic currently have any shows lined up. Night/Hex did recently release a cassette and CD entitled Yuki that you can find for sale at Dumb Records.

The Complaint Line: “Happy Birthday M.F.”

Springfield rock group The Complaint Line have just released a brand new song earlier this past weekend. The song is called “Happy Birthday M.F.” and you can find it streaming below. You can also head over to the band’s bandcamp page and download it at your own price. The track is “not remotely safe for work, but perfectly safe for the weekend.”

The Complaint Line recently played at Black Sheep a couple of weekends ago with Wilt Candy, Tiger Rider, This City Of Takers, and Loses The Mighty. Their next Springfield show lined up is on Saturday, September 13th at Capital City Bar and Grill.

 

Kickstart: “Sick of You”

artworks-000089043597-mmjffd-t500x500Springfield pop-punk band Kickstart have been hard at work in the studio recently recording their very first EP to be released sometime this fall. Today we finally get to get a sneak peak of that new EP with the release of this one new song- “Sick Of You.” You can stream the new song on the player below or head over to Kickstart’s Soundcloud page where the song is streaming.

Currently Kickstart does not have any shows lined up at Black Sheep but we will make sure to let you know as soon as they do.

 

New Hospital Job Song On Compilation

A brand new song from Springfield pop punk band Hospital Job has recently appeared on a compilation put together by It’s Alive Records. The compilation is called Show’Em The Hand Vol. 3 and it is available for streaming and pay-what-you-want download on bandcamp. The new Hospital Job track on the compilation is called “Tell Me Four Things About Yourself” and you can find it streaming below along with the rest of the songs on the sampler. It appears that Hospital Job have been recently working on new material for an unknown and upcoming release.

Hospital Job will be playing Springfield next at The Poon Lagoon on Saturday, February 22nd along with Be My Doppelganger, Horrible Things, and Nephrons.

New Springfield Band: “The Definition of Home”

8862486546_c6284e589e_bA brand new Springfield band has formed and released a new song called “The Definition of Home.” The band features Jessica Knight (of Mother Leopard and formerly Our Lady), Mitch Baker (Lovecow) and Brandon Carnes (Big Storm, The Timmys). This new band does not yet have a name but you can be on the lookout for shows from them this fall.

Our Lady: “Buque”

Springfield touring emo/indie band Our Lady have just released a new song up on their bandcamp. The song is called “Buque” and it comes from the band’s upcoming release Dawning out Turn of The Century Records. You can find the song here on Our Lady’s bandcamp or also find it streaming below.

Our Lady will be playing Black Sheep this upcoming Wednesday, May 22nd. They will be playing the show along with Tiger Tank, Gospel & The Wolf, and Jessica Knight. You can catch singer/guitar player Tim Williams perform an acoustic set at Black Sheep tonight. Our Lady will also be heading out for tour at the end of the month. Dawning will be released on May 25th on cassette through Turn of The Century Records. The band will also be putting out a seven-inch record called Vessels through Mind Over Matter Records later this summer. You can find a song off of that called “Tunnel Vision” right here.

Big Storm: “Wasting Away”

Springfield feel-good rock band Big Storm have released a new track called “Wasting Away”. You can find the track on the band’s bandcamp page right here, or their Black Sheep page here. You can also find the song streaming below. Big Storm released a split CD with the band Brother George last year and their release made your pick for top Springfield albums of 2012.

You can catch the next Big Storm show at Black Sheep on Wednesday, May 29th along with Idly and Yogi Beara. A facebook event for that show can be found right here.

Streams: Borealis

4111656831-1Today we are bringing you a stream of another one of Springfield’s newest bands. This stream is of the first release of ambient drone project Borealis. Borealis is a solo project of Mario Cannamela who plays in the hardcore/punk band Soap Scum. He played his first show this past Tuesday along with Cottontail and Montagh and has one show planned later this month in Champaign. There is a new Borealis facebook page right here. Big Eyes: “Nothing You Could Say”

562192_612145578814191_430186006_nAlthough they are not a Springfield band, we thought we would mention that Seattle’s Big Eyes have released a new song called “Nothing You Could Say” off of an upcoming full length record. Why is this news? Because Big Eyes is one of the headlining bands on this year’s Dumb Fest taking place June 14th and 15th! You can listen to the new song right here or download it for free right here. The song comes from the band’s upcoming album Almost Famous which is due out on May 14th through Grave Mistake Records.

Up In Arms: “Boyfriend”
