December 19th at Black Sheep: “The New Class” Hip Hop Showcase

Thanks to all who came out to the hip-hop show last night, now we have another one lined up that we are announcing today! This one is happening on Saturday, December 19th! There is a good chance this will be our last show of the year, so make sure to come out! This show is being called “The New Class” all-ages hip-hop show, being put on by Straight Drop Media and 217hiphop.com. Here is their description of the event:

straightdrophiphop.com has partnered with Bar Brawl Battle League to bring you “The New Class” an ALL AGES Hip-Hop showcase and battle event!

If anyone is interested in trying to line up a spot to perform on this show, there is a number listed on the flier (pictured above). The show will kick off at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. December 5th at Black Sheep: The MB, Brandon Austin, Roddrick Lemar, DJ Mayday

We have a show coming up at the Black Sheep on Saturday, December 5th which will feature a new collective of hip hop artists that have not yet performed in Southtown. There is a lot going on in this town as far as hip hop goes and we are thankful we have gotten the chance to work with more and more of these artists in the past few years. This show will feature Sherman-based artist The MB, which is short for “Mama’s Boy”. Also on this show is Brandon Austin. The “opener” for the show is Roddrick Lemar- but there is a long list of special guests that we will also see perform. This includes DJ for the night, DJ Mayday. Other guest artists include Ashley Whitehouse, David Gottschalk of the band Set Fire to Salem, and Garth Whitehead.

Animals With Human Names: “Gravelines / Mighty Healthy”

A brand new Springfield hip hop project called “Animals With Human Names” debuted for the first time at Black Sheep earlier this weekend on Friday night. The project is put together by Jim Whitehead of Say Something, Don’t Mess With Winkie, HK-47, etc. Today we are bringing you two recorded tracks from Animals With Human Names. One is “Gravelines” and the other is “Mighty Healthy (Bong Bong Terrorist Remix)” You can stream “Gravelines” below. Check out the Animals With Human Names bandcamp page to stream both of the songs or download them for free.

Animals With Human Names currently does not have any more live shows lined up, but keep and eye and ear out for more in the future.

Videos: Deezy Da Paper Boy: “Underestimated”

It looks like yet another hip hop music video has been shot inside Black Sheep- this time it’s from the local artist Deezy Da Paper Boy for his song “Underestimated.” You can check out the video on the player below. September 25th at Black Sheep: HISO Music Presents “Crowd’s Choice”

This fall there are a lot of big shows coming up, and that includes a few hip hop and R&B shows too. We have an event being put on by HISO Music Entertainment on Friday, September 25th. This one is being called “Crowd’s Choice” and it is a contest involving crowd voting. For this HISO is welcoming all kinds of performers and artists, including full bands. They have 12 slots available for acts to claim with a $50 entry. The winner, as voted on by the crowd, will receive a cash prize of $500.

Any band or performer that would like to join the contest can email hisomusicentertainment@gmail.com. We will be following up with a lineup for the “Crowd’s Choice” show once that is set. The door price for this show will be $6, and tickets will be available through HISO for $5 in advance. The show’s start time will likely be 7:00. Tonight at Black Sheep: “The Very Very Very Coo Show”

Tonight at Black Sheep we have our only show happening of the weekend, and it will feature some local hip hop, and a mix of some other genres. This show is being called “The Very Very Very Coo Show” and is being put on by Cooshit. For this show we have a local electronic project called KaBASS. You can check out some of KaBASS’s music streaming below. We also have everyone’s favorite guitar riffin’ downtown street performer, Nighthawk. Then before that is the local hip hop artist Jar’mar Virider. Other performers for tonight include TJ Bird, The Co-Pilots, Lo-Fi MonstaMartian, and
Dooblavey.

September 4th at Black Sheep: “The Very Very Very Coo Show”

This show is being called the “Very Very Very Coo Show” and will feature a good mix of hip hop, R&B, and more. Here’s a list of who will be performing on that night:

June 27th at Black Sheep: DJ’s Charity For Cerebral Palsy

10532385_912589142135915_2310830818853424761_nA week from today, on Saturday, June 27th we will be hosting a benefit show for an 8 year old with Cerebral Palsy, being put on by HISO Music Entertainment. For those of you who have been out to any of the recent HISO shows, you know that this will be a good time. For this one we have a good lineup of solo musicians, singers, and artists lined up. Some of those solo musicians include Dramara, Sammy Flores, Katie, and Calia. We also have the hip hop artist Pytch Wyte, and you can stream some of his music on the player below. Before that is a drummer/singer duo called “Allison & Skiddlz,” and then we also have a full band performance by Fill In The Blank, who has played a few times before at Black Sheep.

There is also a GoFundMe page setup for HISO’s cause if you are unable to make the show right here. HISO’s goal is raising $5,000. Doors for the show open at 7:00 pm and there is a $10 cover to go towards the cause. Check out what else is coming up at Black Sheep on our shows page right here.

June 26th at Black Sheep: Bar Brawl Battle League Official Try Out

Those of you who have been around for previous rap battles at Black Sheep know just how intense they can get, and this show will be no exception. Here’s what is lined up as far as who will be facing who on the stage:

Twitch and Cerius Barz face off in a battle of #3BL vets,
Decatur’s Yella takes on Peoria’s Iydiss,
Peoria’s Get Em Bo takes on Missouri’s Malado,
and two newcomers Rick Slick and Zach Gilbert match up in a battle of rookies!

DJ for the night will be DJ Juice Ortiz, and “Uncanny” himself will be the host for the night. There also might be a non-battle performance or two snuck in from 2 Live Nation, We Back Soon, and possibly more!

Tonight at Black Sheep: “Spring Bling” Presented by HISO Music Ent.

Tonight we have an event happening for fans of hip hop and rap, maybe some dance, and maybe some surprises. HISO Music Entertainment group will be putting on their “Spring Bling” which will feature performances by some of their own artists that are a part of their collective, as well as some of the winners from a recent talent show at Southeast High School. This will surely be an interesting show to catch, and anyone is welcome to come! Check out a video recently shot at Black Sheep featuring some of HISO’s artists right here.
