wooorms

We posted yesterday that a new band page has been created for the band Worms. Today we bring you a stream of the new band’s brand new EP entitled “Dirt Pile!” The EP marks the first release local to Springfield of this year! From the band’s bio:

Well, since we both really like music and making music and stuff, we decided that since we’re dating and stuff it’d be fun to make music together. So, we did. We released our EP “Dirt Pile” on the 1st of this year.

Worms does not have any shows lined up, but we will keep you all posted on any upcoming shows. To stream the EP you can scroll down or head to the band’s bandcamp page.

Illinois Times: “Dead Drop Springfield”

Those of you who check the Illinois Times every week may have caught a slight mention of Black Sheep in this past week’s issue. We were mentioned in a short article about “dead drops” which are USB memory sticks embedded in city walls. Black Sheep was mentioned because there is a dead drop in the alley by our building. There is no article posted online but if you scroll down you can read a scanned in image of the article.

Teenage_BottlerocketFINALWOW! We have a HUGE spring show to tell you all about today! It looks like TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET and OFF WITH THEIR HEADS will be coming to Black Sheep on Monday, March 11th!!! They will be joined by local bands The Timmys and Hospital Job.

For those of you unfamiliar with the bands, here are a couple of short band bios.

Teenage Bottlerocket is a  band from Laramie, Wyoming, formed in 2001. The band was formed by twin brothers Ray and Brandon Carlisle after their previous band Homeless Wonders broke up in 2000, and is completed by Kody Templeman and Miguel Chen. The band’s music is heavily influenced by Kody’s other band, The Lillingtons. On February 10th 2009, Teenage Bottlerocket signed with punk label Fat Wreck Chords, later releasing They Came From The Shadows, their fourth and most recent album, on the 15th of September. (last.fm)

Off with Their Heads is a punk rock band formed in 2002 from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since their formation, they have often featured a rotating line-up of tour players, due to their members’ other commitments and Off With Their Head’s own full-time touring schedule. Singer/guitarist Ryan has noted that having different musicians helps keep the band fresh. (wikipedia)

The show will begin at 7:00 pm. For this show we will be selling tickets in advance. You can purchase tickets at The Rock Shop or at Black Sheep during any show for $8. The day of the show the door charge will be $10. Be sure to also check out what other shows we have coming up at Black Sheep on our shows page.
