Black Sheep has a Wikipedia Page!

wikipedia_logo_detail

Wikipedia has a Black Sheep page now! The page was made on September 20th by Austin Duffie, as he thought it would be a good idea for The Black Sheep to have one. The page has since then undergone a few revisions, and is looking pretty well. There have been plans to take a picture in front of The Black Sheep for the Wikipedia page soon also. It would be pretty rad if we had some people to help edit it and create some more content, as with more content comes a better page! The page will definitely draw some more attention to the venue, and now there will be a totally non-subjective source with info on The Black Sheep! It’s a pretty big step for a place to get a Wikipedia page, as Wikipedia is strict about how notable a place must be for a page. That means Black Sheep has some stuff to show off! For more info on editing and how to contribute feel free to contact Austin!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Estates, Austin Connelly, Whenskiesaregray, Ghost Key, Blank Gravestone

flierEveryone, we have a MONSTER show tonight, this setlist is huge! Let me fill you in on exactly what we will have the pleasure of experiencing this evening. Headlining tonight, we have Estates! They’re a fluid, alternative emo band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These guys will be sure to lift spirits and start off the night with good vibes so look forward to seeing them! Then it will be Austin Connelly. That one dude you may have heard of that’s in a few bands. He’ll be performing on his own tonight. Who knows what he plans on doing!

To shift back into a more emo gear, we’ll be featuring the D.I.Y screamo band whenskiesaregray from Baltimore. They will be giving us a different take on despair and heartache but have no fear! These guys are awesome and will definitely provide a good set, so stick around for sure! Then, it will be the emotional, melodic hardcore band Ghost Key. These midwesterners are from Peoria so this will give you a chance to check out some stuff from Peoria’s scene. The evening will open up on an energetic note thanks to the local punkers Blank Gravestone. These guys always give exciting performances, so it’ll be a good end to a massively rad evening!

This, my friends, is all for the low price of $5. It’d be awesome if you could come out at 7pm and show some support. Here is the facebook event and you can also check out our upcoming shows to see who’ll be playing at Black Sheep in these upcoming midwestern fall months.

Photos: Black Sheep Fest 2008

Today we are taking a step back into the past. Five years into the past to be exact. Our team of top archeologists have helped us uncover a batch of photos from the very first Black Sheep Fest, which was help on July 25th, 26th, and 27th in 2008. Yes, it was also the only Black Sheep Fest to span the course of three days. The photos we are showing you today are of a few bands who played the last two days of the fest. You can see the flier with all of the bands and a few photos below. For the complete batch of photos, head over to our Black Sheep Fest 2008 flickr set. For photos from our most recent Black Sheep Fest, check out our Black Sheep Fest 2013 flickr set. Extra special thanks to photographer Devin Softley who took the photos five years ago!

Tonight there’s this show happening at Black Sheep! This show is going to be a great indie/rock/acoustic show. Tonight is also special because it is the return of the band Mutts from Chicago. They played at Black Sheep back in May and you might remember them as the band that had that big old piano up on stage with them. Also playing this show and bringing the feel-good rock is local band Big Storm featuring local celebrity and Black Sheep Radio host Brandon Carnes. Opening the show up will be Tim Williams of Our Lady. Tim will be doing an acoustic set for us.

All of this starts at 7:00 pm tonight and it’s only $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here, and you should also take a minute to check out what other shows are coming up at Black Sheep by looking at our shows page.

9-21 Roundtable RECAP

glamglueOn Saturday a few of us met for our Black Sheep roundtable meeting. We talked about some stuff and then went around town and hung up some upcoming show fliers. Here are some of the things that were done/discussed:

– We now have fliers for our radio show! Plenty have been hung up around town.
– More people need to come to roundtable and street team meetings. We could really use more help in a lot of areas, and you can help us!
– Plans for our new heating and cooling system inside of Black Sheep were discussed. We are still looking for leads to electricians and roofing contractors so get at us!

Don’t worry, that was not the last meeting that we will be having. You can make it to the next one on Saturday, October 5th at 1:00 pm. Everyone and anyone is welcomed to come to these meetings! And if you can’t make it to that, there are always things you can do to help out and volunteer around Black Sheep! Check out our get involved page for more info on that.
