July 25th at Black Sheep: Black Sheep Fest 2015

Today we are coming to you with the official date for Black Sheep Fest 2015- which with be our eighth Black Sheep Fest held at Black Sheep so far! The date for that is Saturday, July 25th– so mark your calendars and plan your summer vacations accordingly! No bands are being announced just yet, the final flier and lineup will likely be made available at Dumb Fest 3D on June 12th and 13th. Don’t forget that you can also pick up your tickets for Dumb Fest 3D at Dumb Records at any time or find them online right here.

Epsom: “Damn And Blast,” Pre-Orders for “Ah, Youth”

Springfield “acid reflux rock” band Epsom have released a brand new song along with a pre-order to their upcoming self-released LP. The song is called “Damn And Blast” and you can stream it on the player below. This is a song from Epsom’s upcoming LP called Ah Youth, which is being self-released by the band and will be limited to 100 copies on vinyl. Find the pre-order for the album right here. Epsom will be playing at Black Sheep next doing a Modern Lovers cover set as a part of the Black Sheep Cover Show Part Four, happening on Saturday, May 23rd. Find a facebook event and more info on that show right here.

June 19th at Black Sheep: Noesis, Abyss, Blue Skies Beneath Black, A Beginning’s End

Coming up on Friday, June 19th at Black Sheep we have another metal show lined up for you all. This show features Central Illinois progressive metalcore band Noesis, who have played the past few metal shows that have been hosted at Black Sheep. Next on the lineup we have Abyss, the alternative metal band also from around in Central Illinois. This will be Abyss’s first show at Black Sheep this year. Up before them is a deathcore band from Wood River, Illinois called “Blue Skies Beneath Black.” And the fourth and final band on the bill is “A Beginning’s End” playing metal from the St. Louis area.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. There is no facebook event for this one, but you can still check out our shows page for a look at everything coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

LEECH (Oklahoma City) Added To Dumb Fest 3-D

It looks like we have one more Dumb Fest 3-D band addition that some of you may have caught when we released the official flier and tickets earlier this week. That addition is a band called LEECH from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They will be playing day 2 of Dumb Fest 3-D. You can find some of LEECH’s music streaming below.

That brings us to a total of 40 bands officially on Dumb Fest 3-D! Dumb Fest 3-D will be taking place on June 12th and 13th at Black Sheep, Skank Skates, Dumb Records, and South Town Studio. You can pre-order tickets online right here or they can be bought at Dumb Records during store hours. Tickets this year are actually 3-D glasses and when wearing them the flier becomes 3-D! Tonight at Black Sheep: Black Sheep Open Mic

Hopefully this will give plenty of new musicians and artists a chance to get up on stage, and show us a thing or two! There are a lot of fifteen minute time slots that have already been filled for the open mic. Let’s take a look at what we have lined up:

7:30 – Sami Walker and Tyler Nelson (acoustic)

That’s over three hours of open mic madness right there! This is going to start right at 7:00 pm sharp (don’t be late)! Videos: HISO TV: “HISO Cypher”

Today we have a brand new video that was recently shot inside Black Sheep from Springfield hip hop label and collective of local musicians, HISO Music Entertainment. The video called “HISO Cypher” features different performers inside of Black Sheep. Featured artists include AYO, Shady Wayne, Delfino J, Joshua, and LO-FI. Check out the video below.

Today on Black Sheep Radio: S.K.E.I.S.P.

IMG_3194Today on The Black Sheep Radio Show we have a special guest, and that is Chris Yeager of the one-man black metal project, “S.K.E.I.S.P.” (which is an acronym for Sargent Karate Everyone Is So Pretty). We will have Chris in on the show to talk about his new project, upcoming recordings being released, and also about the show that he will be playing tonight at Black Sheep along with Panzys, Fel Fae, and New Band.

The Black Sheep Radio Show airs from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm every Friday on 88.3 WQNA fm on the radio. You can stream it online at the same time at wqna.org. Also check out our radio page where you can find links to a good chunk of downloadable episodes of the past.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Panzys, Fel Fae, S.K.E.I.S.P., New Band

Tonight we have an all-local showcase show happening at Black Sheep featuring four local bands, a lot of them being fairly new. Headlining the bill is the rambunctious punk act, Panzys. Panzys recently put out a self-titled release which you can stream on the player below. Before them is a newer two-piece (maybe three-piece tonight) instrumental band called Fel Fae. And before that we have the solo black metal band, “Sargent Karate Everyone Is So Pretty,” which was forged from our band lotto show last year. Opening things up is a very first performance by a brand new Springfield band, make sure to make it out to the show on time to catch that!

Dumb Fest 3-D Official Flier + Tickets

Dumb Fest 3-D is quickly approaching, and today we are coming at you in 3-D with the official festival poster and also tickets for you to snatch up! Check out the official Dumb Fest 3-D poster above! Looks cool, right? Well, there is a twist! The poster show above is 3-D!! You need 3-D glasses to see its magic. Luckily we have 300 3-D glasses at Black Sheep/Dumb Fest headquarters!

See those glasses pictured above? That is actually the official ticket to Dumb Fest 3-D! You can purchases 3-D glasses that act as tickets to day 1, day 2, or both days of Dumb Fest. If you buy the ticket, you can see the official poster in 3-D! How crazy!

New Band Pages: Fel Fae

Today we bring you another new band page on our site, this time for the two-piece instrumental band Fel Fae. Fel Fae is a newer band that started earlier this year. Check out their new band page right here to find out more about the band. Fel Fae will also be playing at Black Sheep this upcoming Friday along with Panzys, S.K.E.I.S.P., and a new band.
