Tonight at Black Sheep: Wir Können, I Before E, Itto, Naturally The Foundation Will Bear Your Expenses, Fel Fae

Tonight Wir Können will be playing their return-from-tour show- they have been out on the road traveling South to Florida and elsewhere. Wir Können has been out on the road with the band “I Before E” from Atlanta, Georgia who will also be playing the show tonight. You can stream some of I Before E’s music on the player below. Also on this show we have the Chicago sceamo band “Itto,” who wiill be playing their first show here at Black Sheep since Dumb Fest 2 last year. Then we have a third touring band, and that is “Naturally The Foundation Will Bear Your Expenses” from Omaha, Nebraska. Opening things up we have the newer instrumental band from Springfield called Fel Fae.

Next Black Sheep Open Mic June 21st

opendevonOur Black Sheep Open Mic that was held at the beginning of May was a huge success. So much of a success that we want to keep putting on more Black Sheep Open Mic’s for anyone to participate in! The next Black Sheep Open Mic will be happening on Sunday, June 21st. We will be taking submissions for any of the thirteen 10-15 minute time slots we have open. You can take a look at the facebook event and leave a comment if you would like to snatch up any of the slots. Here is what the lineup for this open mic is looking like so far:

Paqui: “Southtown Demo 2015”

a1945654480_10We are a little late to the game on posting this, but it looks like the acoustic solo artist who has been playing shows for a while at Black Sheep now- Paqui– finally has some recorded music up for us to hear! Paqui recorded a four-track demo at South Town Studio earlier this spring. The demo is called Southtown Demo 2015, and you can check out the artwork above or stream the music on the player below. You can also head over to Paqui’s bandcamp page to stream and purchase the download for the demo. Paqui does not currently have any shows lined up at Black Sheep, but keep your eyes and ears out for some in the near future!

Tonight at Black Sheep: The Sites, The Oceanographers, Full Chroma, Full Mountain Damage

Tonight at Black Sheep is our third show out of four in a row and we have lots of rock music coming your way! For this show we have a band called The Sites coming from Pekin, Illinois. We also have the surf/rock Peoria band The Oceanographers on the show. The Oceanographers are no strangers to Black Sheep, as they played here back in October. Next on the lineup is local Springfield rock group, Full Chroma, who will be sure to make you jump up and down. Stream some of Full Chroma’s music on the player below. To complete the lineup we have another rock group from Mantino, Illinois called Full Mountain Force. Tonight at Black Sheep: In Exile, The Howl, Space Alpacas, Nighthawk

10300954_741305882574441_2753908077824407071_nThere is a lot happening in town tonight! First off there is a great rock show happening at Black Sheep tonight. Two Chicago area bands- In Exile and The Howl will be playing the final date for their recent Northeast tour. Both bands have played Black Sheep a few times before. In Exile is pictured above, and you can find some of The Howl’s new music streaming below. Aside from those touring bands, we also have the Springfield rock band “Space Alpacas” taking the stage. Come to the show right when it starts at 7:00 and you might be able to catch a rare on stage performance of the legendary Nighthawk.

July 10th at Black Sheep: Hospital Job, Broadside, Old Again, Lifewithout, The Locals

For this show we have the Springfield band Hospital Job playing some of your favorite pop punk hits. We also have the touring band “Broadside” coming from Richmond, Virginia. Check out some of Broadside’s music streaming below. On tour with Broadside is a band called “Old Again” from Central Florida. They play more pop punk. Then from nearby we have the Alton, Illinois shoegazey band called Lifewithout. Opening things up we have a performance by the local band “The Locals.”

Dumb Fest 3-D Planning Committee Meeting At Black Sheep Monday June 1st

Screen Shot 2015-05-27 at 8.26.22 PMIn just 15 days, Southtown will be hosting Dumb Fest 3D– the biggest festival of the year with 40 different bands from 10 different states performing in Black Sheep and Skank Skates. As we are gearing up for the biggest and best Dumb Fest yet, we are calling for all of the help that we can get! We are planning for a big all-around Dumb Fest meeting at Black Sheep this upcoming Monday at 8:00 pm. We could use all of the help that we can get for this one! If you have any itch to help out for Dumb Fest, come out to the meeting! At the meeting we will be discussing:

– Last minute Dumb Fest promotion
SOHO Music Festival
– The Project Southtown Kickstarter
– Preparing food for Dumb Fest 3-D

We will also be brainstorming new ideas and ways to make sure that this is the best Dumb Fest yet! Don’t hesitate to come out and join in on the discussion!

Tonight at Black Sheep: “Spring Bling” Presented by HISO Music Ent.

Tonight we have an event happening for fans of hip hop and rap, maybe some dance, and maybe some surprises. HISO Music Entertainment group will be putting on their “Spring Bling” which will feature performances by some of their own artists that are a part of their collective, as well as some of the winners from a recent talent show at Southeast High School. This will surely be an interesting show to catch, and anyone is welcome to come! Check out a video recently shot at Black Sheep featuring some of HISO’s artists right here.

July 8th at Black Sheep: The Easy Mark, Panzys, +A New Band

This show will be happening on Wednesday, July 8th at Black Sheep. Right now the lineup for this show is just a short three band show! The show will feature the pop punk band from The Quad Cities, Iowa called The Easy Mark. The Easy Mark features members of the band Genovia Forever, who are playing day 2 of Dumb Fest 3-D. Check out some of The Easy Mark’s music streaming below. Also playing this show is the local Springfield punk band- Panzys! And first up on the lineup we have a first ever performance by another new Springfield band. Make sure to come out to this show to catch the new band and the touring act.
