Something about some huge hardcore show happening here at Black Sheep on Black Friday this year? We guess this is happening! Looks like on Friday, November 25th this upcoming Black Friday we have a true banger of a show happening at Black Sheep, and you can likely expect to score some deals next door at Dumb Records for Black Friday Record Store Day as well. For this show we have heavy hitting hardcore band Bent Life from Omaha, Nebraska. Bent Life performed at Black Sheep at some point years ago- you can check out some of their music streaming below. We have a few other familiar bands stopping through for this show- we have the return of Lowered A.D. since their set at Dumb Fest 4-Ever this past year. Also Capitol Offense is making a return for the first time since their 4th of July Show. Then we have Springfield favorites Pryss, and opening things up is a performance by that new-ish Bloomington/Normal powerviolence band “Stye“.

This mega-show will be starting at 6:00 pm and admission is $10. You can check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything going on at Black Sheep for the rest of this fall.

It’s been a minute since we’ve added any new current band pages to our roster and we are going to try to start getting back to that once a week here at blacksheepspringfield.com! You might remember them as the band that covered Television for our Black Sheep Cover Show this past spring. You can check out the new band page for The Good Companions right here where you can read up more about the band and stream some of their music.

Check out any of our 50+ current band pages right here, and an even longer list of past Springfield bands right here. Do you play in a Springfield band that has not yet gotten a page together with us? We would love to hear from you! Shoot us an email at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com and we can work with you to set something up.

Jayy Wills: “Boulevard”

New Springfield hip hop and R&B isn’t something we usually are ahead of on covering on our site (although we do host occasional hip hop and rap shows at Black Sheep). Today we are brining you a new music video by local Springfield artist and also Southtown resident Jayy Wills that is just too good for us not to share. You can check out Jayy’s new video for his song “Boulevard” on the player below. The video features shots from all over Springfield including some slo-mo action and some fancy drone footage.

The video was shot in collaboration with HISO Music.

GUSH: “Unreleased Stuff”

Springfield hardcore band GUSH have just surprised us all with a new collection of songs that recently went up online. Here are five songs under the name Unreleased Stuff which includes four previously unreleased tracks and one cover by The Stooges. You can check out Unreleased Stuff on the player below or also head over to the Ooey Gooey bandcamp page where you can download the release at your own price.

GUSH do not have any shows currently lined up. The band might be on hiatus from here on out as far as we can tell? Uh oh! Members are still active playing in bands Pryss, Livin’ Thing, Starlorde, and more.

Yard Crew Day This Wednesday

Hey all! It’s been a minute since we’ve had a good group community “yard crew” day around Southtown and we are trying to squeeze one in before the weather gets too cold. This Wednesday we will be meeting up at Black Sheep at 5:30 pm to do some cleaning and yard work in and outside our spaces. Everyone is welcome to join and we can use all of the help we can get! Here’s a little explanation of what is going on from Yard Crew Jack:

*Yard Crew Day is a chance for us to take sometime to clean up Southtown. Picking up trash, pulling weeds, working on projects, having fun, and smiles are all apart of yard crew day.

Come on out and let’s clean up this town!!!

Bring warm old cloths, gloves, trash bags, and be ready to work!

With weather permitting we are going to clean the sidewalks of South town and picking up trash around the area. We will also be working on a few projects inside Black Sheep we could use your help with!

Here’s a facebook event for yard crew day for those of you who want to join in on the discussion. See you Wednesday!
