Good evening, it’s midnight on Tuesday night so we figured we’d share with you this new release by local solo ambient artist Timothy Donavan Russell that will take us all into outer space. This is Timothy’s nineteenth release listed on his bandcamp (there are probably countless others through his musical career). This one is thirteen tracks under the title The Sound of Cosmology. According to the description on Timothy’s bandcamp this is “samples of spoken words of scientists set to music. Featuring: Brian Cox, Fay Dowker, Brain Greene, Stephen Hawking, Lawrence Krauss, Hiranya Peiris, Carl Sagan, Neil deGrasse Tyson.” You can stream The Sound of Cosmology on the player embedded below.

This release goes along with an upcoming art show at The Pharmacy Gallery at 711 South 5th Street here in town. The art show is called “Cosmos” and features the works of Timothy and other artists and goes the weekend of March 9th and 10th. More info on that can be found right here.

The next show we have to tell you about happening one week from today is at The Radon Lounge on Saturday, March 3rd. First of all look at that wonderful painting by Chris Martin – Chris will be the featured artist at The Radon for this show. (The Radon Lounge has been featuring different local artists set up at each show in one corner of their basement). The touring act on this bill is a group called Veseria from Indianapolis, Indiana. You can stream some of their music on the player below. Then there’s another band more familiar to The Radon and that is shoegaze project Hushpad from Lincoln Illinois. Lined up before that is Springfield rock group Epsom playing at The Radon Lounge for the first time. Solo Acoustic act Alec James is opening, also first time performing at The Radon Lounge.

That show is at 7:00 pm and is $5 admission. To find out where The Radon Lounge is, you must inquire on their website. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our Springfield shows page for a list of shows going on in Springfield outside of Black Sheep.

Did you know that Looming are already three days into one of the biggest tours they have ever embarked on as a band right now? We guess now would probably be a good time to tell you about it! The band is currently on tour with big national touring act Tigers Jaw and also Yowler. Unfortunately that tour is not coming to Springfield, but it is stopping through Dekalb, Illinois on March 16th. The band is playing at The Black Sheep as well, but it’s the one in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Looming released their second full length album Seed back in October with a release show at Black Sheep. Be on the lookout for another Looming show to be announced in Springfield happening later this year sometime in the future.
